The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

Another FAIL by Determimed 😡
Was way too hot this afternoon to keep up with the scheduled walks. Will have to try and get my quota up first thimg in the morning.
Daily tally only 3800 steps. Still better than I have been doing so happy about that.

Still over 30deg here at the moment. 😐

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Sunshine State lived up to its name today @Determined didn't it? It was 36 degrees at 1:00pm but cooler weather is on its way plus some rain next week. Max of 19 degrees for Monday. Down to 24 degrees now and I've just come back from walking the pooch. She doesn't like the heat. Need to get her clipped again soon.

Just over 20 000 steps for me today.

You did really well @Former-Member. Beat my total. Maybe I should walk around the block again - nah 😆

Stair climbing is a really good exercise. When I lived in a condo in SE Asia, I used to take the stairs sometimes - 32 floors! It was a lot harder going up than coming down.

@Shaz51 - a long way sounds good.

@Faith-and-Hope - bits and pieces of walking all adds up

Keep adding more each day @Maggie - you'll get there.
