The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

@Faith-and-Hope not at all as I was selling. I was by myself. And it was so hot that I was burnt. Completely exhausted when I got home, that I slept for 2 hours.

Oh dear @Sans911 .... I hope you have some Aloe Vera handy .... and that you had some decent sales for all the effort you put into it .....

Rest well now.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Spent four hours in active walking today. Clocked up over 19kms. Today, it was more about my mental rather than my physical health. Woke up early especially to catch a sunrise only to be disappointed by cloud cover.

Hope you all got out and about.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

About 3km here, walking up and down a strip of coastline where there was an outdoor sculpture festival. A windy day, part of it walking on soft sand, slow going to stop and look and wander around the sculptures along the way. Felt weathered at the end of it. But not as weathered as @Sans911 by the sounds of it. Yes, aloe vera is good for sunburn if you have it. Hope you feel better tomorrow. All up I think it's solid distances walked by me on 3-4 days of the last week. I'm okay with that for now. Keep on keeping on, fellow walkers.
