SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Since breaking up with his 5yr defacto earlier this year, my son has mellowed, gone from saying "burn it down" to "you're lucky to have that place mum" And for the first time since he left home he's cleaned my gutters recently. I don't wanna tell him, my avoidant personality is dominating here.

I like that I can spread out here, but really can't manage it anymore and the house is getting more and more problems - he really doesn't understand.

- no TV Reception (broke)
- no gas compliance certification
- hot water system just died (2nd in 10yrs)
- leaking taps even the plumber can't fix properly
- roof leak

- adjustable stumps I can't adjust

- tiles lifting off floor
- reeeealy high ceilings re lights etc
- small town gossipy communityz poor social options

Maybe if I sell I can help him financially at least.

Just moved the heavy recliner to front room to sell as someone's coming to look at it. gave me the shakes, so just resting back having cuppa & snack.

Yep @Former-Member - big difference between renting (your son) and living in a house that needs constant maintenance.

Just don't mention those things to the real estate people. Make sure that you're financially okay before you go giving your son handouts. I know you have a kind nature but stress over money isn't much fun.

Did your chair get sold?

Checking in to see how things have gone today - just caught up on your news @Former-Member selling does come with mixed emotions. Hope you get some clarity - perhaps enlisting your son to assist with where you could move to might help. Hope that the chair sold for you.

@Shaz51 even dealing with one item a day, a cluttered shelf or draw can soon be history.

Here we got rid of two pairs of shoes that had seen much better days (and had been replaced many moons ago) with a 3rd pair to be offered to a friend, some holey socks also got the heave ho. Sporting equipment got put into a decent storage tub - was prevously in 3 different spots so nice to consolidate.

Mr Darcy is going through some of his papers - don't know how much he will part with, but at least they will be sorted properly and there is cleared space in a cupboard to put the filled tubs in.

I don't think it matters whether they are MDF or timber @Former-Member if you like them (and you have put so much effort into 'restoring' them) then keep them. You'll then have a reminder everyday of what you have achieved
