HOME

Well I'm finally home (again).
4 hospital stays in 91 days. Wow. No wonder it feels so strange to be in my own house again. Adjusting will take time. Cooking for myself will take time.
My house is in the same condition in which I left it. A pigsty. So no one room has warmth and charm to lift my mood. Will have to slowly start cleaning up - one room at a time.
I did go and watch my son play soccer in the finals. I'd been so sick this year - thst it was the first game I had been to all year. His team lost. But they play again next week. So still stand a chance of playing the grand final.
My son is still living with my mum. Has been since the end of April. Hopefully he will see how much I've improved on my new anti depressants and anti anxiety meds. Then he may choose to come home soon.
Was up and doing the washing early this morning. But now reading a book in bed.
Am very bored. But have AA Meeting tomorrow night.
And I have my WorkCover IME (independent Medical Examination) - psych interview with a tough psychiatric on the 30th of this month. Think it could be on Wednesday. And then I have my much waited for Psychologist appointment. Can't see him when I'm in hospital (too far away).
So that's it for now. A new thread for a new beginning.

Re: HOME

Thanks @Former-Member @soul.
Am at the hospital. Tomorrow drop AD med toa 1/4 dose. Then 2 days later go on new AD.
Got nasty text message from my sister telling me how selfish I am to go to hospital. I told her to FO.
Mum drove me to the train this morning.

Re: HOME

I super hope things start to improve for you soon @utopia. I feel so sad hearing that your sister said you were selfish for going into hospital. For all the talk about breaking down the stigma of mental illness, that sort of comment shows that it is still far too alive and well.

Re: HOME

Hospitals are very useful places @utopia, better to be supervised with med changes than not, it's a wise decision you've made. I'll bet it felt good to tell that sister where to go too. I am estranged from all family now, years it's been now, for similar reasons.

You do what you have to do to help yourself in the knowledge that you are doing the best you can right now.

I sometimes wish people like that would get some sort of comeuppance somewhere in their lives so they get to understand, but know they won't, and really, you'd have to hate someone a seriously badly to wish what we go through, on them, so I know it's not gonna happen.

Keep hanging in there @utopia

Changing medications can be difficult @utopia - glad you are getting the support you need in hospital. Wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to hearing of your progress. Thinking of you x

Re: HOME

Omg .... I can’t believe your sister said that @utopia ..... so out of line ! So wrong.

You are not being selfish at all, you are being entirely responsible, and self-nurturing in the way you need to be to get well .... that is your first and foremost priority, and you’re doing that.

Please keep taking care of you ..... ❣️

Re: HOME

Thanks for letting us know what's happening @utopia. You have lots of friends here who care about your wellbeing.

Thumbs down to your sister but thumbs up to your reply. Did you get your dogs' care sorted?

All the best with the meds adjustment. Rest up and concentrate on yourself.

Re: HOME

Hi @utopia - tell your sister to FO from me too. I'm glad you're managing your change of meds in a controlled environment... I've done some really stupid things in the past with meds like just quitting them cold turkey or trying to taper off on my own. You're doing the right thing... I just hope your sister learns some empathy and compassion in your abscence. Maybe if she comes down with a major illness you can return the favour and tell her she is being selfish for seeking treatment? Take care.

Re: HOME

Rest up @utopia

I cannot believe the negative stigma that surrounds mental health. Sadly a lot of it comes from within families or the inner friendship circle. It certainly reflects poorly on them, rather than the person living with mental health issues. Please don't listen to any negativity as you regroup and recuperate in hospital.

I'm thinking of you.

Re: HOME

Thank you everyone for your nice words.
My sister is angry that I couldn't find a kennel to take my dogs. Their immunisations are not up to date. So my dogs are staying home alone. Outside. And my son goes and feeds them after school.
My sister is angry that mum has to take care of my dogs and my son & I didn't give much notice and mum is sick and her Regional Pain Syndrome are playing up.
So I am selfish.
Mum thinks I just have to deal with things and get up and do stuff. If only I could.
My sister has had multiple suicides in the past. One where she actually died but the ambulance brought her back to life.
But when I'm having suicidal thoughts and go to hospital, instead of following through. I'm selfish.
My sister doesn't like how I am raising my son. I'm lazy. I sleep. I don't cook. I don't care for him.
So I'm here.
