Really wobbly

Really wobbly

Any advice and suggestions about how to stay grounded and do self care much appreciated. I have some big stressors in my life right now. That combined with Bipolar 1 and Anxiety is really knocking me around. Trying to sell home as result of marriage breakdown, pay debts, find new home. My daughter (who is my main support) is leaving home (can't blame her). I have a young son to look after and I'm trying to protect him from the strain of the situation. All this is coming off the back of a mixed episode, which has recently been replaced by plumetting mood and skyrocketing anxiety. I am teary and on the verge of panic and need to talk myself down - there's noone else to do it. The future is scaring me.

Hi @frog @Mazarita @CheerBear - sometimes there seems no point. But we keep going in the hope that there is. May you all find even a little bit of brightness in your day.

Re: Really wobbly

I just wanted to check in with lots of people who have helped me one way or another. I've been a bit out of the loop, under pressure at home and work.

I'm bound to forget people in my muddle headed state, and to anyone else passing by, hello!

Today I'm trying to do 3 things, which is probably a bit ambitious: gratitude, self care and small goals.

It can be hard to feel grateful when things aren't great, but I know I'm lucky to have a home and a job to go to, and health care.

I am feeling so jaded and worn down, that just when I most need self care, it seems hard to do. For today I'm going to get to bed early and have my sleeping potion so I can catch up a bit. I also plan to do my ever growing list of physio exercises.

Little goals: do the grocery shopping, make a pie for dinner, and sweep inside and out. All very domesticated. I also want to get out of the house with my daughter because she's back to uni this week and I won't be able to fit anything like that into her frantic schedule for a couple of months.

Gosh I don't know if I can do all that!

It would be good to do something with my son, but I am having trouble mustering up any enthusiasm as he is being difficult, if not obnoxious, of late. No double things are not happy for him.

I hope you all have a decent day, with some positives to sustain you. We're survivors and that's something to be proud of

@frog I really enjoyed reading this post and hearing about the way you plan to get through things today. It's always nice to see a frog tag pop up 😊

I hope that your day goes well and that even if you can't do it all, you're able to remember that trying, planning and hoping are all so meaningful and positive.

Surviving is definitely something to be proud of 💪❤

Re: Really wobbly

Good morning, @frog, @CheerBear and anyone passing through this thread today.

Frog, great to read you at length and with pictures!

You list of things to do does sound a bit daunting, especially when feeling jaded. But if you take it just one small step at a time, you may just get it all done anyway. Hope so. I try not to worry if I don't get through things on a day I've given myself an agenda. Usually just having a plan helps me get more done than I would have otherwise. So I celebrate whatever has happened.

Thanks for the good wishes on the day. I send the same to you, CB and everyone.

Hi @frog I hope your plans come to fruition today. On the days when I do stick to my list of things to do I usually find doing 1 thing gives more impetus for doing the next. Your plans for today are all very positive. Enjoy!

Thanks for the inspiration to focus on what needs to be done today.

Re: Really wobbly

Good morning froggie @frog

You sure have a challenging list today! By the way, there are not 3 things on your list, I can spot gratitude, sleep, physio, grocery shopping, make a pie for dinner, and sweep inside and out, going out with your daughter. That's 7 😉 And you probably want to fit brekkie, lunch, shower... in too 🙂

I try to keep my expectations low. Where everyone else gets taught to do activity planning, I'm getting told to do less of that, as I used to plan my day to the minute, in Excel sheets, including times for driving, having a shower, making and eating breakfast...

My goal today is to study a bit, however long I can concentrate. Not feeling great, everything else is optional. Reading, painting, yoga, cooking... are ideas for the rest of the day but if I go to bed, sleep and listen to music for the rest of the day that's fine too.

What's your most important goal for today? If you had to pick only ONE activity, what would you do?

Hi @frog ...... 👋

Hearing you. When I am feeling jaded like that, I try to fill my day with distractions .... hearing you ..... and hope you enjoy them, in baby steps, like @Mazarita said.

Have the husband logging every aspect of life on Excel spreadsheets @Former-Member ...... hearing you too ......
