psychiatrist appt - terrified

psychiatrist appt - terrified

I Have an appointment with my psychiatrist by telemed today. I'm feeling sick about it because i stopped taking one of my medications after court because of how they used it against me to make me sound like a deranged psychopathic liar. I take it to help me sleep but they kept repeating what the use of the tablet is usually prescribed for and now they're saying that if i'm taking that type of medication i can't be stable enough to be a parent. They also kept reading out the psychiatrists report from when i was first in hospital in January and making me say that i was severely mentally ill back then, and perhaps i could be now and either i was lying when i said i wasnt or i wasnt in a fit state to know if i was or not. I'm scared to say anything to the psychiatrist because anything he says or writes will be flipped and skewed by the lawyers for my ex in famlly court. Even if he writes i'm recovering well they'll just say that proves i was 'faking' it in january to put off court. It feels like no matter what i do say its going to be used against me and i just want it all to go away! I'm not doing so well, i know i'm not. But im so scared of telling anyone. our next court hearing is in a weeks time. I thought that a lot of this stuff, these games and stuff would be easier if i got a 'win' in court but its made no difference whatsoever because the 'best' thing for the children is seen as having their 'father' in their lives - until he hurts them. The police and psychologists have all said he will eventually but it doesnt matter to the courts.

Sorry, rant over, has anyone felt like they coudnt talk honestly with their mental health team/person/people?

Hi @Jystme

Sorry your posts have disappeared and apologies for not picking up on it earlier. One thing you can do is to write your post in a word doc and then copy it into the reply box so that there’s not chance of it timing out.

I’ve just read over a few of your posts and it sounds like you’ve been having some difficulties with the guidelines as well. The aim of the SANE Forums is to create a safe, supportive and anonymous space where people can discuss issues relating to mental health. The guidelines for the Forums were developed with input from partner organisations, consumers and carers and have been designed to promote open and honest discussion while also protecting anonymity, which includes the anonymity of practitioners.

Thank you for taking the time to share your advice with other members. I know it can take along time to get things into words and it’s frustrating if the words don’t get out there in the end. I hope you have a better time with the Forums in future.

If you have any problems, please send us an email at team@saneforums.org.

@Jystme

I lost a few of my early posts due to the refreshing ... dont go ... if you persevere it is not too hard to work within the system.

Re: psychiatrist appt - terrified

Yes same here, it's more about the support we can give each other that helps and makes it worth it here 🙂
I'm not coping at all at the moment I'm so overwhelmed with everything I just don't know how to get through

Re: psychiatrist appt - terrified

I just have so much to do and decisions to make and I'm not sure I can face it all. People keep saying to just take things hour by hour as I get through this time but I have kids and family court and responsibilities... Everything is a nightmare. I need to decide whether or not we move into the refuge on a longer term thing and pack up our old house (but I can't really see the point he'll find is no matter where I go) or go back to the place that something yuk happened and try to forget and keep safe there, behind in my rent, no idea about work, family court coming up in three weeks and an extra visit for the kids with their dad this week, finish statement with police.. Everything is so out of my control and there are organisations trying to support me but I just want to hide and not face anything even with the support because I'm terrified of all these people helping me. Nobody helps me for nothing it always costs me something or it'll end up bad for me in some way... Sheesh not even my mother loved me or helped me when I needed it as a little girl... Everything is just so wrong I guess and not 'normal' I'm just so overwhelmed
Sorry for rant.

My friend @Former-Member
How are you ?
Lisa Jane don't you think you have dealt with much worse than seeing an overworked un humble Psychiatrist.
You have worked so hard showing and displaying real care outside of you through bunny rabbits
I feel like giggling re appleblossom s awesome responses to you when she talks about care and compassion and as usual ...... Just gets it so so right xxx

Re: psychiatrist appt - terrified

Dear @Former-Member

As usual I'm totally behind ....... Unaware of what's really happening

1 you show and heartfelt give real love to your children and ....... I haven't quite worked it out but display real fragile love and compassion via little cute pets
2 do you think ..... If you just wake up and cuddle your children you can call just one organisation and tell them your feeling overwhelmed and that you just need someone to come over and sit with you while you cry ??

You can do this
It's time that you have a caring place deal with a few things for you

What do you think ?
