Something’s not right

Now what?

Now what?

Good morning all

So I've come to the conclusion that I need to continue to live, survive the daily battles. For everyone that loves me. I've understood that I have to take responsibility and that I have to participate in day to day life and also start earning a living again.

As I am writing this I can see the flaw in my thinking. I understand things on an intellectual level. I've also understood on an emotional level that it would have a traumatic impact on everyone who loves me if I hurt myself.

But where does that leave me?

Re: Now what?

Hi @Former-Member

From what i'm reading in your posts you're concerned about going back to unhelpful coping strategies that you have used in the past. It's awesome that you're here to plan how to manage - particularly for the 4 weeks of important appointments coming up.

Have you found any positive coping mechanisims in the past?

Other members here will have other helpful coping strateiges they have found useful for them in the past, which I'm sure they will share with you.

Some discussions that look at positive coping strategies include:

Got a good coping strategy, add it here: A place people can add their coping strategies or to refer to members who want ideas on how to cope

The Coping Box: Similar to above

We also have a thread where you can share your daily goals, motivation and check in which you might find helpful to keep on track.

I hope these help!

Thanks @NikNik

I feel my old coping mechanism were unhelpful but worked. I feel like when I was a teenager and my parents left - I coped, I survived. My psych and GP are leaving for a while so I better go back to things that I know worked. I know I don't wanna lose the war. Might lose the battle, but not the war.

Re: Now what?

I have never been able to explain just how lonely and freightened I feel. People never recognised me when I drank and "lost it" - that is essentially me, I just cover it up, every single day. I can count on one hand how often I have come to the stage of "losing it" in the last decade. People just get too worried and estranged

Re: Now what?

Hi @NikNik

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately I can become very self destructive and angry and defiant to any coping strategy when I am in rage.

I'm better today, spent a lot of time being gentle with myself, but had some tough talks too.

I wanted to share and move on. I try to move on so hard. I've been in the garden today, I walked, I've been in the garden, I painted, I cooked. I just want this day to be over. It was a big heavy door I couldn't open it. I'll have a drink now.

Hi @Kirin
Rather than having a drink - which is a short term solution that may make things worse, how about your jump into another thread where you can connect with others?

Night shift is a thread that is quite active at night started by @Mazarita

Anyone feel like chatting is also a popular one started by @outlander
