Re: not coping

@Lee82 Hey Lee82 you were asking about support workers some of mine are young people studying psychology. It is really interesting talking with them about what are the latest techniques etc.

Re: not coping

That is so great you are walking so often @Bunniekins

Yea walking is very important for MH. My psychologists is on my back about it. I am finding it hard at the moment to get motivated but I have been going for short 20 minute ones I'm just not consistent with it. Some days are real tough and at the moment I'm homeschooling so if I go I usually take my kids with me and of course our dog during their lunch break.

Re: not coping

Yea I don't know anything about support workers. How they fit into your MH support, how you apply for the service and who is Eligible for it.

Re: not coping

@Lee82 My kids are in their 20s and I was thinking yesterday I dont know how I coud have coped with homeschooling them. it just would have been a disaster. My hat goes off to you Lee82 and all the mums, dads and grandparents who are doing the hard yards with this virus.

Re: not coping

Yea it's difficult. I have a 12& 8 year old. My 12 year old is pretty much independent just need a little guidance from time to time but my 8 year old needs a lot of help. Its a lot to handle right now.

Re: not coping

@Lee82 Okay there are a few ways you can go about this. I have two sorts of workers one who is a nurse (with medical training) and others through an agency (where you get a variety of different sorts of people - I prefer them to be honest ..... ). The thing is that you need an ndis package to receive support. You have to apply for the package stating that you need supports in areas like going shopping or around the house like cooking as examples. Have you got a good psychiatrist? I would be asking him/her about getting a ndis package.

Re: not coping

@Lee82 you deserve a medal as does all the other carers who are helping the children through this maze called covid-19.

Re: not coping

I have a psychiatrist but I've been wondering if he is right for me lately. Thinking of changing but afraid of having to start at the beginning with someone else.

Re: not coping

Thank you @Bunniekins don't think I deserve one at the moment. I definitely have a new found respect for the teachers though. I can't do it with one child let alone 20+
