Re: not coping

That's good @outlander at least you don't have to worry about gluten.
Yea it will take a while to heal hun. I would say you have stripped the lining if your stomach which will need to heal itself. My brother was lactose, sucrose and fructose intolerant which stripped his stomach lining when he was a child.

Re: not coping

yeah im glad i dont have to worry about the extra intolerances. i was tested for all those sorts of things with the biopsies that were taken and come up i was ok with others just very intolerant to the lactose @Lee82

what are the main milks that are usually used for lactose intolerant people when you got to coffee shops and things like that where baristas make them up?

Re: not coping

There's almond, oat, soy, and rice although I have only ever had 1 person ask for rice milk. No one usually stocks it to use in coffees. I think oat is the best tasting. Your right about almond milk. It is very nutty tasting.

Re: not coping

thanks @Lee82
i might try the oat milk tomorrow instead. the almond milk isnt totally awful but i dont really like peanuts or any other nuts so it doesnt really surprise me that a nut substitued milk isnt a favourite.
If oat milk seems to be around in most places ill give it ago too. id at least like to enjoy my teas lol since its really the only thing i drink besides water. atm it just tastes kinda like drinking a peanut flavoured water 😬

Re: not coping

Mmm...you may struggle to find oat milk in a few places. It's only just starting to become another milk option for people these days. I only started using it the past maybe year.
If there is a coffee shop you always go to and they don't have it you can ask them if they don't mind getting it in or even you can ask them if you coukd bring your own. Some places are ok with that if they can't supply it for you.

Re: not coping

i dont go to places to buy a tea very often but now that i know i cant have it ill be more weary of it. i can always opt for a small soft drink if they dont have it. i know im not suppose to have it much but i dont drink it very often anyway so ill think of it as a treat instead. @Lee82
i can tolerate the almond milk in small amounts. its too nutty in flavour for me though so i didnt finish my tea tonight.
im glad mum and her household drink the milk i did have cause ive got 5 litres of it.

i went to try and start putting together a grocery list but i got really anxious over it again

Re: not coping

Just take it slow hun. It will be overwhelming for a while. Totally understandable. Just need to try and think positive about the list. Look at it as a wellness list. A list that will make you feel better.

Re: not coping

i found the oat milk and a butter that is lactose free. i wont worry about cheese etc because i dont normally have it anyway but the rest is tricky to find. i might just have to go to the shop and spend abit of time in there this time rather then ordering online or just purchase some things i know i can have and pops things that he likes.

i might have a look for a dietician as well so they can point me in a good direction too.
i might just try to put it aside for now though since im feeling more nauseous now. ive tipped my tea out and just got some water instead to hopefully help a little.

how are you going though? hows your day been @Lee82
