Re: not coping

I am so glad that your support worker will take you and bring you home @Sans911 that was going to be my next question since i know you usually arrnage things yourself so im grateful the sw will be there. I know you are a superwoman but you dont have to be all the time.

I hope if they find anything its nothing to serious.
Is the anaemia part of the low iron your often battling with?

Re: not coping

Yes, I can take my cape off on Thursday lol! If I am a superwoman, then you are a wonder woman @outlander!!! I honestly don't think I could manage all that you do and put up with.

Yes, the anaemia is low iron. I have have a problem more with low ferritin, which is where iron is stored in reserve before being used. My body can't seem to keep this topped up, so then my haemoglobin gets lower. My mother and sister have similar issues. It doesn't happen all the time, just every few years or so. I can't take iron tablets, as they affect my gut and make me feel sick.

Re: not coping

Lol @Sans911 leave that cape at home and let others look after you for once. I would come if i could ❤

Mm hopefully they find an answer soon then for you and family who have the same thing as well. Does it make it hard to live with on a regular basis or just when things are lower then normal?

Re: not coping

Am i distracting you from your work?

Re: not coping

No, not distracting me from my work, as I am actually now on a bit of a roll @outlander .

I am not usually bothered by the low iron or ferritin until I start to notice symptoms. These are usually increasing tiredness, a bit short of breath and sometimes a bit of dizziness. Really obvious symptoms hey?! NOT!! Some women get paler but I am already quite fair skinned. After my surgery my iron levels were ok. But I wasn't taking the best care of myself, my depression was still affecting my appetite and motivation, so I just put my fatigue down to my surgical recovery. It was only when it was getting worse and I was struggling to get out of bed (again I thought it was my depresson), I was sleeping during the day, I had no stamina and struggled with basic tasks that I asked my GP to check my levels. Even she wasn't sure at first whether I was fatigued from the surgery, my depression or my iron! She encourageed me to eat better, sleep better, and see if that helped. Which it didn't. So that's when I had a iron transfusion at the drs surgery. My bloods today were to see where the levels are at, and I see my GP on Friday. It took me a lot longer then usual after my transfusion to get on top of the fatigue. I still have a bit of it now, but it is much better then a few months ago.

Re: not coping

I am not looking forward to this procedure on Thursday at all @outlander . They only give you light sedation, and I have no anti anxiety prn medication prior to going. Actually, that's just given me a thought- I might ring my case manager tommorow to see if she can get something arranged for me from my pdoc. The community mh team are across the road from the hospital.

Tommorow I can't have any solids at all (except plain yoghurt). So it's all fluids only. I have a few hours at the op shop so I will take a lemonade with me to keep myself going. I am allowed a coffee with milk first thing in the morning, but only black coffee or tea after that, which I absolutely hate! So I will probably have a caffiene detox headache Thursday morning.

I just want to get through the procedure, get picked up, get a proper coffee on the way home, and go to bed.

Hopefully you can get a prn @Sans911 and that it goes quite quickly. Im not surprised your not lookig forward to it! I wouldnt be either.
Black tea /coffee  yuck. A good coffee afterwards is a must!
What time do you have to be there on thursday?

In response to: Re: not coping

Re: not coping

Oh I am so glad that you agree black tea or coffee is blegh!! @outlander

I don't have to be there until 12:30 which for me is quite respectable lol. it isn't very far from my home at all but my support worker will pick me up at 12. Apparently I should be able to leave between 3-4pm. They will call her to collect me.
