Re: not coping

I think Lite & Easy do high protien meals as do other companies @outlander, but I can also help you too. I try to eat more protien than carbs to help me stabilise my weight.

Re: not coping

Ive only got one good vein (if it shows itself that is!) But its still usually quite deep and when it does appear its only a small bit that gets more brighter to see and that is hydrated very well. It sits almost at the top of the crook of my elbow. Its the only vein the pathologist uses to draw blood out of.

Im not good with needles. At all. I have passed out twice from them previously and still get funny laying down unless they get it in the first (or 2nd go tops) so that doesn't help much either lol 🤦‍♀️

Yeah the specialist actaully said hes not in the medical field for the money he is there to help people feel better and work out whats happening for them. He is abit expensive but most i can claim back on medicare anyway.

I have been told i have a high pain tolerance. I went 3 days without pain relief aftet the dental surgery cause i couldnt swollow. Struggled to just sip water so once the local wore off that was all till i could get something down.
I hide alot of my pain and i dont like complaining so i stay quiet. I dont like being repetitive esp here either so i just try to manage it as best i can.

He said how much is it affecting my life right now. I said it is alot and has been for weeks now. I will try to stick wih all the changes he wants me to do in the meantime but im not to sure how i will go esp with how fussy pop is with everything.

I have been so lethargic lately that ive been managing a few hrs sleep but even sleep ad resting feels so hard atm. Almost like its just draining all my energy away. Youd think sleep would be helpful 🤷‍♀️ @Sans911

Re: not coping

I used to have a high pain tolerance @outlander, but things I've done to myself, and the procedures and surgeries I've had in the last few years have lowered that threshold quite a bit. I feel pain more easily now, but like you, I try not to complain too much about it unless it becomes unmanageable.

I've been getting some abdominal pain from where I had a mesh put in, and only mentioned recently to my surgeon. She's informed my gp, and they might consider an ultrasound if it doesn't get better. I know mesh can cause issues with tissue adhesion, so I suspect that's what it is. Nothing can be done about it.

Yes, I know you don't complain much here either. It wouldn't bother me if you did, because I believe in you anyway. So I know you are suffering more than you say you are.

You are hyperviligant right now, and have been for some time. Also very sleep deprived which can become a viscous circle. Stress messes with your hormones like cortisol & adrenaline, so sleep becomes difficult. Add pain to that, and it's a sorry saga. You're exhausted from lack of sleep, but also the high emotional level you're constantly in. Hopefully you will find some relief soon sweetie.

Re: not coping

Can having many procedures and surgeries lower pain thresholds in people? @Sans911

Ive learnt alot about pain management over the yrs, ive had to so like you if its unmanageable then i know it really is time to get help and get checked unless of course its an emergency.

Can i ask what the mesh is? Is that to help the skin to heal and join up?

Hmm yes hormones are fun. My palpitations have been hanging around even with meds the past few days so i know my adrenaline us pumping even when i feel to tired to even think. Hopefully things will work out soon enough.

Re: not coping

Can go both ways with many procedures or surgery @outlander. But often while you might get used to those things, and having phlebotomy, iv lines and such, they can hurt more. Does for me anyway. And I could tolerate pain better before. Now even a headache is more bothersome.

A surgical mesh is a foreign substance, looks like a gauze square a lot of the time but made of a light plastic like substance, that's put in place internally where extra support is needed to help repair muscles, tissues and organs. It's used a lot in hernia repair to support weakened abdominal muscle walls so that the hernia doesn't happen again (hopefully). It's also used in prolaspes to help weakened organs stay put. It can cause quite a few problems because it's a foreign substance. Often there's lots of scar tissue around the mesh that can adhere to organs, abdominal or intestinal walls and the like, and it's virtually impossible to remove a mesh intact.

So when I had my reconstruction done last year, my surgeon had to remove a small amount of my left abdominal muscle. Because she did that, she had to use mesh to reduce the risk of that muscle weakening and a hernia happening. I didn't know that it was going to happen, and I'm not really OK with it. But I had no say in the matter, so nothing I can do about it.
