Re: not coping

what is MBT? @tyme that isnt a therapy im familiar with i dont think. it isnt one thats been suggested to me

oh! i see i thought you meant 18 months as an inpatient. sorry!
4 days of work would be ok for me if i do the weekends so maybe intensive therapy may be an option but i would def need to save up for that.

Re: not coping

i just had a quick research @tyme
i do have a psychology session this week so it could be something i speak to my psych about.
i have done ACT, CBT and DBT and exposure therapy in the past

Re: not coping

MBT is relatively new in Australia.. not many people do it because of the committment. The program requires both an individual and group sessions over a minimum 18 months. @outlander Mine was through the public system. And yes, 18 months is massive in terms of cost and that's another reason why not many people do it, and there aren't many trained clinicans either.

I feel super lucky to have got into it. And I'm glad I did because it's changed my BPD life around.

What about schema therapy for you?

Re: not coping

im not sure ive done schema @tyme
to be honest i havent stuck with many psychologists long enough. the psychologist im with now ive been with her for a year i think and its still hard to really talk to her. shes mostly been a sounding/venting board for a while now with all the changes happening.
i want the help but sometimes i dont think im overly compliant. not because i dont want to but its that fear that if i let go abit ill get back out of control

Re: not coping

Hearing you @outlander . Don't worry about being compliant. A skilled therapist will know what to say/do.

You think I was compliant? No way!

On my Mental Health Advance Statement that hospitals, doctors, any everyone gets, it clearly states "Do NOT tell me what to do."

And I wasn't joking. The more people told me what to do, the more I felt they were taking control of me so I flipped the other way....

Anyway, I'd love to go on, but I need to wrap up now. I'll see you mid week. All the best with work tomorrow!
