Re: not coping

Oh, @outlander I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to walk for so long. I recently had a knee problem that prevented me from my usual walking and qigong, but I did not need crutches and I can only scarcely imagine the scope of what it must be like, to as well I gather you have other things going on too (not to assume, but we are in this forum...)

It is what it is, I guess. *shrugs* 😐

And being away from your supports sounds ultra challenging. As well as not having the comfort and safety of your home too. All the blessings in my bag of goodies for you.

Journalling, ugh.. I tried it, and I found my personality difficulties relying on the journal and. they stopped talking to each other and remembering things, so I stopped it. I write for therapy and creative expression, as the form gives rise to the vibration. But daily, no. I need to start daily writing again, as I was telling a SW the other night, but that is creative writing, to flex the prose muscles. Things like character studies, dialogue, small plot twists and mysteries.

I am not familiar with a worry box, is that when you write something down, and then place it in the box? I'm careful of the rituals I expose myself to.

Re: not coping

It is definently a challange and still continues to be but I guess we do what we can the best we can.

Creative writing is good too. I didn’t find journaling overly effective myself

A worry box is writing down the thing that is bothering you and putting it into a box. It’s sort of like storing away that worry until you feel you can tackle it or the worry becomes less

This is true. ^^

I love writing. If I wasn't here, I might be dabbling in something. I'm getting closer to that zone where I wanna write something again.

Re: not coping

That is good. What sorts of things do you like to write?

We have a writing for therapy thread here too where people sometimes share a poem or short writing piece they’ve written

Re: not coping

Umm.. I love writing poetry too. My poetry is fairly confronting, gritty and punk AF. Not the sort of thing probably appropriate for the forum. I could write one when I feel the bug though, that might be better received. hehe 🤣

I am always working on a fiction novel though, starting one, and then bemoaning the uninteresting plot. I have been trying since I was a young adult, and there's a lot happened since those days, working little and writing lots. I'm not published, and I think I'd like to be, just for the recognition. As most writers will tell you, we have good taste, so we know when our own work isn't good enough. The key is in the practice, the 10,000 hours to bring your skill in line with the quality of your taste for great writing.

Ideally I want to write something that I know, but separating it from myself has been challenging, and on top of that, I want to insert it into a gripping futuritic sci-fi setting with questionable laws of physics.

Re: not coping

Sounds like a challenge! I’m sure whatever you write will be a good one.
That’s ok you don’t have to share your poetry but the thread is there if you do have something suitable!

Re: not coping

Yeah, nobody ever said anything was easy. Especially things that hold intrinsic value. It's why I love attempting it so much. Its fun to try, it's fun to see what I've written, it's even more fun to share it, and it will be fantastic if a bunch of people all want to read it and say nice things about it!

The notion of loneliness;
Of the chat written.

I like haiku. There's a little haiku for you about my current experience!
