Re: not coping

How long have you been training again @outlander ? It must be difficult to change jobs. I hope it eases up soon.

Re: not coping

its not so much changing jobs as much its same industry but new boss, new expectations, new workplace etc @tyme
ill still be with my current workplace but reduced shifts once i speak about this new job. the boss is good and she understands alot we just havent had a chance to catch up with anything or sat down to discuss the job. i just feel like msging and saying im not good enough to work the job or im not experienced enough

i have been a carer for 9 years, worked in the workforce for 3 and have been studying for the last couple of years on and off through tafe and completing several tafe courses

Re: not coping

Hearing you.

Are you able to have this conversation with your manager to see if some supports can be put in place? @outlander

Do you think you are being hard on yourself?

Re: not coping

i just feel like im not good enough @tyme its almost like im shying away from opportunities because of fear but i want to branch out and this would be a good way to do it either with the new potential new company or another company.

i dont feel like i need the supports put in place for work as much. im about to start therapy soon, next week actually and getting stuff at home sorted finally so its less stress and so ill be able to take on these opportunities.

i always feel like theres someone who is more qualified then me to do things

Re: not coping

I believe there will always be people who may be more qualified. However, in many ways, it's not just the qualification but the attitude and approach to work @outlander

I've been on many formal interview panels. One of the biggest things we look at are interpersonal skills. A degree doesn't show that but is essential to a role.

What do you think?

Re: not coping

i feel i have a good work ethic @tyme and if the company treats you right its easier to go to work or want to go to work. ive been loyal to the company im with for 3 years now and even though it can be really hard ive always tried my best, im at work on time every time unless prior arranged, complete all my shift duties and usually more, attend all shifts and i help work colleagues out where i can and the boss of the company as long as its within my scope as well

Re: not coping

Voila! That in itself speaks volumes @outlander .

"Show them by your works...not your degrees." I've learnt this the hard way, because there have been times I've employed people who had excellent qualifications and could talk the talk....but working with them was a nightmare.

If you have good work ethics, it can go far beyond those who may be highly qualified.

Re: not coping

well i always try my best @tyme and if i dont know something i tend to try and find out what needs to be done

but what if my mental health or physical health gets in the way again and spoils it

Re: not coping

No one is invincible @outlander . Even the best workers get sick. That's something that companies are aware of. If you prove yourself, they will look after you and make the adjustments needed to accomodate your needs.

Do the best you can.
