You are still young and have lots of time to figure things out @outlander but at the same time I can understand the importance of it too.

You do need to find something you enjoy, especially if you are going to make a career out of it.

Re: not coping

@outlander I do hope you have not strained your wounds. Gently with them. Personal care can be very physically demanding. Not sure if you check in again with health team.

re work. It can be an evolving path, that suits your needs and preferences and relates with what is available in the real world. We never get it all figured out. At least I do not think that way, there are always things to learn. With the transition into support work, it makes sense to scope out goals, get training as needed and go for the best options.

It sounds like you are planning well re home situation. Even having a bit of a plan can reduce the stress somehow as it will not be a forever situation.

Re: not coping

yes definently @Appleblossom and the surgeon said i can call for advice no charge if im concerned.

im hoping to catch the gp clinic tomorrow. im workig night shift but atm im so uncomfortable its come on quite severe so im nto sure whats happening. ill call the clinic tomorrow and ask for an urgent appointment to have them looked at and if its not settled tomorrow ill give the surgeon a call.
i think now that the supportive dressings are off and all that demanding at work its made them really sore.

yes ive enrolled in another tafe course that starts next month and i have a couple of personal development courses across next couple of months to gain some more insight.

To be honest I am really surpirsed you were cleared for work so early. Not all work has the same physical demands. Surely a doctor with a medical degree knows that. Sitting or standing at a computer, thinking and pressing keys is different to all the contortions necessary for personal care. The wounds would go deep. I have often believed you have a tendency to get going physically after injury (cos of horse caring etc) when I would prefer you to take it slower.

Ha ha but I know myself ... and even with the same scenario ... and horses ... and I used the saying getting back on the horse ...with my physio this week ... but when I am in agitated trauma mode... I jump back on TOO quickly.

Just hugs ... supporting you to get thru ... whatever ... how long it takes ...

Re: not coping

thanks @Appleblossom i ended up in an urgent care clinic to see someone about my concerns and they checked the wounds and thankfully they arent infected but they dolook sore. believe to be caused by doing to much to early so the dr from clinic said light duties for another week and then reassess where im at. i was on all the heavy duty shifts this week so trying to shuffle a couple around. have swapped to work tonight so im doing 12 hours tonight but trying to sort the rest out. may need to use some of my sick days if i cant do any other swaps to a lighter shift. nights are really the only easy going shift when it comes to my job though

I'm glad you went and got them checked out @outlander just to make sure they are healing.

I hope you are able to swap your shifts around so it makes it a little easier for you.
