Re: not coping

its going ok @Snowie ive gotten alot of stuff done today but also it feels like i havent done anything. i forget how much of the smaller stuff piles upwhen your working alot just stuff like posting a parcel and picking up some click and collects that have been waiting but at least alot is taken off the list. i have a couple of things left to do now but it can wait till tomorrow. just waiting on the dryer to finish the last load of washing and then ill fold it all and put it away. thatll be a big chunk of what i needed to do. ive only been doing the washing once a week sometimes once a fortnight so it piles up sometimes

Re: not coping

Sounds like you have got a lot done today @outlander

Hopefully that means tomorrow will be a little quieter for you.

i dont think so @Snowie but if i get everything done tomorrow tuesday will be quieter i hope

im getting really anxious about the upcoming surgery though. it seems to have slowed in time right now and the days are going abit slower making it feel like its taking forever.
im really anxious about one thing though and i dont know if im suppose to bring it up with the surgeon or anything

Re: not coping

I would bring up everything with the surgeon @outlander if you feel comfortable.

No doubt you are getting anxious hon. I think that is a normal reaction, especially when it is surgery.

Re: not coping

its the thought that itll be in the location where my sh scars are. they cant be hidden in this area so theres going to be a whole surgical team that will see it and the nurses post surgery that are helping with my dressings across the following week or so @Snowie

Re: not coping

oh hon that does make it really hard @outlander

It is hard when those scars are seen by someone else. It is something that we try and hide from the world. I know I hide mine.

I'm sure you would not be the first person that has had them however. Perhaps the surgeon can make a note so that the other nurses and doctors know, especially the ones looking after you after the surgery.

Re: not coping

mine are well hidden @Snowie and no one has seen them in years either. for them to be exposed to a while surgical tram plus the aftercare team is going to be really hard. i dont know how to bring it up or what to say or how to say it.
i wont see the surgeon until the day of surgery now and when she had a look at the areas that needed removing they were able to be seen by just moving clothing in certain positions so they were still hidden.

i am in contact with 2 of the nurses that will help post surgery i may request just those 2 where necessary to avoid the awkward ness. at least once theyve seen them once i wont need to go through that again or having to explain it everyone one.

what do i even say, i never talk about it to anyone and theyre always hidden

Re: not coping

Hey @outlander ,

I hear that you have a lot of big feelings that come with people seeing your SH scars.

I'm wondering whether this is something you tell the drs/nurses straight out rather than both parties 'hiding' what they know? Would this help you feel better about it?

I'm not saying you should to this, I'm only brainstorming as I read how nerve-racking it can be to try and hide the elephant in the room....

I hope all goes well with the surgery.
