Re: not coping

It used to affect me too but I am much better at accepting those times I just cannot do anything. I had to stop sport because of my neck and am limited in the exercise I can do. Hydrotherapy was great for both my back and neck but the hours they are open do not allow me to go anymore because of work. It was a small pool centre with both an above normal temperature heated pool and a lap pool I could also walk in (just - my little legs got a work out) so I did not feel anxious around a lot of people - all the other pools close by are too big and don't have the shallower pools or extra heating to aid in the therapy. @outlander

Been a while @Eve7 Slowly getting back into things and is good to be on holidays to have time I have desperately needed to process so much ...and relax.

Re: not coping

yeah it is hard @Zoe7 i have given up alot of things too. i just started riding and retraining the racers and stuff again but now ive given up that. i was given an amazing opportunity to work with some horses for a year as a job but i had to decline that even though i really didnt want to. i guess at least i have another job now but i still have altered basically everything with the way i work. it really feels like i just started to improve and get some positive things happening in my life and then this happened and its even worse now then what it was before
it was suggested to try hydrotherapy too but we only have the big pools that are often to over crowded for me and the chlorine makes me break out in rashes so sometimes i hobble in the ocean water. the cold water gets to much though most of the time.

Re: not coping

I am glad you are on holidays @Zoe7 and that you can relax and process. I'm going away next week so am looking forward to that.

Re: not coping

That is a shame @outlander Hydro was great - went at least twice a week for several months and the change/improvement was very noticeable. It is not the same in cold water - the warmer water actually aids in the movement but is not taxing on the body like other forms of exercise.

Re: not coping

A holiday @Eve7 How lovely for you Hon I hope it is to somewhere relaxing where you can watch the world go by and do what you want in your own time

Re: not coping

yeah definently, i found the colder water doesnt really have the desired effect like the warmer water would provide like that weighlessness and helping with some movement as well @Zoe7

Re: not coping

Muscles contract in cold water @outlander so doesn't allow the freedom of movement - that then affects the bones also so warm water is best. The pool I went to was a few degrees warmer than a normal heated pool so was a bit like having a bath ...but on a large scale (and no bubbles lol).

Re: not coping

that is true @Zoe7

lol a nice big bath would be nice! shame about the bubbles though lol. i dont even think we have heated pools here unless their private ones with swim schools or in hotels
