Re: not coping

Yes @outlander ... I'm here too, for what its worth. 🌺

I hear that today is not a good day for you. I expect you'd be thinking about your test results being explained when you see your GP in the morning? I know that the report did not read so well, but sometimes those reports can be quite misleading. And we do tend to read more into them than we should. Fingers crossed thats the case. You mentioned the report was marked urgent, so its a damned shame you had to wait until Monday before seeing your GP.

Have you been doing anything special for Mothers Day? How is your pain levels today? Are you feeling okay after your peacekeeper role last night?

Anything else bothering you?

Sherry 🤗💕

@Zoe7

@Former-Member of course its worth something, you matter to me! xo

Ok, so..the main things that are swirling around atm are my studies and also my gp appointment tomorrow.

I wrote into tafe this morning asking if i can withdraw from my course. It feels very strange to withdraw from my studies especially since its something that i normally would enjoy. i enrolled in this course about 2 months ago though obviously not expecting so many things to pop up now but I think maybe with everything happening atm it might not be the best time especially since i failed my last 2 assessments. i had to go back over them to actually see they were my own mistakes and see what the teacher was saying-it was what shouldve been basic things but even with it being pointed out i struggled to see it
Im not really sure how to process it really. I know it might not seem like a big thing and its getting to me quite abit. You guys know here how much my studies help and mean to me so i guess you might be able to understand too.
Any advice on it would be most helpful...

the other thing is the gp appointment tomorrow. I was suppose to discuss my results with him on friday however he wasnt there and hes not there on weekends so ive had to wait till monday. Its quite worrying esp since the radiologist in the comments has suggested an urgent ct scan or mri in a specific area which is the area ive been having the most pain with. im just nervous to find out what he thinks it might be. ive been trying to keep distracted and even put the report away so im not as tempted to keep reading it but my thoughts are often surrounding that atm.

im also a little nervous about tomorrow as im meeting up with a support worker to see if they may be a good match for pop. This one will be paid privately for now but ive started the process with my aged care. I spoke with a lady from there and answered everything she needed. im just waiting for an assessor to get in touch to see what happens next.

@Former-Member i actually havent seen my mum today. I sent her 2 giftcards (cause they are those e-gift cards) and ive shouted them dinner as well. She done a 15k virtual mothers day walk which took up most of the day anyway but ill see her and give her a card tomorrow.

Hi Sweetie .. thats a lot of worries! @outlander

Unfortunately I cannot stay right now .. in the midst of dinner preparation. Wanted you to know I hear you and understand your concerns. I will try to get back later and will think on what you have said in the meantime.

Sorry .. but just bad timing. Lamb rack to put in oven and roast veges to prep. I'm doing a special mothers day dinner ... for my Mum. 🌺😔 But for me too and its one of hubbys likes too. So ticks a lot of boxes.

Talk later ... hopefully others will be around in my absence.

Re: not coping

@outlander Going to be really direct with you Hon - put away that report and do not read it again. You are not a doctor and cannot diagnose yourself so put away the thing that is giving you so much stress. Tomorrow you will have answers and it is quite understandable that you are worried but I think I can speak for everyone here in hoing it is not anything that cannot be fixed quickly and easily -everything crossed for you for that.

As for your studies - I think you maybe have done the right thing for now. We need to know our own limitations and adding more stress on top of what you already have at the moment is not a good thing. You can pick it up again at a later date when you are in a better position to concentrate. If you still want to do some study then maybe do one of the free open learning short courses where the results do not mean much - it is more about the learning than the results. Even though there is a time frame 0on them you can do them week by week or all at once. I did some of those when I was off work to fill in some time and learn some things I had an interest in but completely unrelated to work - that was fun more than annything.

The support worker thing is nothing to be worried about - it is your pop they need to get on with and if they can help in any way then that is a bonus for you. It might also releive some of the stress and enable you to get back to yor studies sooner - so a win-win all around if it works out.

Re: not coping

Thanks @Zoe7

Ive had the report put away since yesterday so I haven't re-read it since then, just worried I guess. i do get a lot health anxiety (for others too not just myself) so its been quite a challange to manage it. hopefully itll provide some answers though, that would be really good.

yeah I think your right with the studies. The course im doing/was doing was only one of the free short courses so I didn't think it was going to be this big. even though theres not much of a timeline and I was ahead more so in the module im more interested in theres 4 weeks left but a heap to do including getting through the content of an entire module, 2 assignments, plus 2 assignments from the current module and having to make all those corrections. Its not like me to have so many mistakes and not even pick it up at least so I think that's my brain saying something. im a little disappointed though.
im not sure whether to defer from the dementia course that's coming up in a few days or to see how I go with it- it only goes for 4 weeks, no assignments just small quizzes and the content to learn. maybe that one will be ok? what do you think?

Yeah the support worker is a good step forward. Its a little expensive so maybe once a fortnight but a few hours here and there would be a good start.
im not overly sure what sorts of things to ask or to talk to them about though to see if they are ok. im ( I think) quite observant so ill be watching to see how they are with pop. ive had to request them to say they are a friend of mine though otherwise he thinks im sending him off to a nursing home. they've agreed to that thankfully.

Re: not coping

I actually do not think doing the dementia course will help you at present either. To be really honest I do not think it is helping you with your pop and it is not something you have liked doing so my question to you is 'do you need to do it'? I know it has been recommended to you but there also comes a time when you have to look after yourself. Having this support worker helping would be a great start in taking some of that pressure off you and maybe if you worked on things that you like rather than what you feel obliged to do for a while will release some of that extra stress @outlander

Re: not coping

that is true @Zoe7 I didn't like doing the first one and honestly it didn't teach me much. id already learn some from the medical courses ive done and also from life experiences so maybe your right. it might not be to helpful either. ill have a look and see how I can withdraw from that one too before it starts.

Can I ask you something if you don't mind?

Re: not coping

Hi @outlander lots on your plate as always. I think @Zoe7 has given you some really sound advice that I agree with. Hope you get some helpful information and solutions when you talk with your doctor tomorrow. And that the potential support worker is a good fit with your pop. I know it means a lot to you to be able to do study but perhaps taking a little break from it until other things settle down a but is a good idea. I think that's what I'd be doing. Definitely defer for now, you can always pull out in future, but that way you're leaving your options open. Just my 2-bobs' worth. Sending warm wishes to both of you xoxo

Re: not coping

Hey @eth
thanks, I have my fingers crossed for some good outcomes tomorrow too. ive got a support worker on Tuesday as well to interview so hopefully one of the 2 people will be ok for pop.
oh yes there will be future studies but think maybe now isn't the right time. making silly mistakes and getting overwhelmed with simple tasks is possibly another indication to just let it go for now.
