Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Yea @Zoe7 i just noticed myself doing some hair twirling, and also noticed MYSELF slipping in and out of bouts of symptoms / mental conversations. It's like that mind reading thing the psychologists talk about.

I do wish many of you here had the same pdoc and GP as I have @eudemonism - they not only prescribe but really listen and I have a say in my treatment plan - I know that is not the case for many. It certainly does matter when they actually listen to their clients.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

hello @eudemonism

great to see some familiar faces on here...whom I haven't seen for a while...
@Bill16 @TAB @MDT

Have had quite a hectic day for me ...thoroughly enjoyed meeting my husband's overseas relatives...

they have 4 children....the two youngest boys came with them...

one is autistic and the other has a rare immune syndrome not sure of the exact name...their mum also has another rare syndrome...

yet they are so bubbly and well mannered....they were a breath of fresh air to meet...

in answer to your question...

what does pdoc do for me?

He gained my trust by clearly showing that he cared and wanted to hear my story....

not all pdocs are good listeners even though this is the basis of therapy really..

so I have been seeing him frequently for 4 and a half years now...

I am able to talk about my feelings...emotions...fears....anxieties...tears...occasionally anger coming up lately...have never really learnt how to express anger....I am very assertive but do not display anger...

Talking about depression...anxiety...trauma is very difficult in real life....most people do not understand the workings and effects...huge impact on life of an unwell mind....

So most people in my life do not know .....I just isolate when having bad periods....

In my sessions with pdoc I can open up honestly and not fear any judgement...impatience....

During the periods in between my sessions I still feel supported...

He has given me his personal mobile number if I need but I do not abuse this right....I only text him if an emergency has arisen and I need to change appointment..

So my pdoc has made an incredible difference in my life...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I'm abit doubtful when it comes to taking w variety of oral medications. I mean, yea great, it solves the mental illness... but then it leaves me totally messed up...
In hindsight i should of just taken what the gp had prescribed me, stabilized and gotten on with life... But i didn't have the insight at the time to realise this...
Because my foresight WAS going 'I'm gonna be screwed up if i keep taking this oral medication..

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I am really grateful that the meds I am on have helped me @eudemonism but I know that is not always the case with everyone. It has taken 2 years and lots of different meds to find the right ones but now we seem to have it right - it has made so much difference to my outlook on things and most importantly I can function everyday now and be safe - that was not always the case. In time we will begin to reduce the meds but that will be done slowly with close monitoring - not at that stage yet as I still have a long way to go.
