Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Nah @Bunniekins i remember one of my mum's friends saying. 'NOBODY BEATS THE SYSTEM ' I WAS a young child at the time, i was probably only 7-9 y/o and now 23 years later I'm realising it's so true. It's one of those comments you over hear while eves dropping into an adult conversation * that was basically directed at myself... and I'll never forget it...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yes @Bunniekins I've booked myself into see a psychologist... I've seen this particular psychologist 3-4 times before...
I know what you're saying... -it's true... but i also think it's just apart of the human condition and who i am as a person. + the meds help deal with the brunt of the load. I think because I'm realising i was unwell, it was wrong, and I'm now receiving treatment for my problems. WHEN not on meds.. this scenario we're talking about-gets way way out of hand... and does all sorts of strange and bizarre things to my thoughts, words and behaviours. So i suppose the medication is doing it's job-it's managing my illness...

No worries @Zoe7 how are you with spending time alone? Does it get to you? Or do you manage quite well? -i am thinking about visiting the electrical store today... not a great deal planned apart from that. -sounds like you've got a few objectives for the day.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I prefer being alone @eudemonism Spending time at home with my fur babies is my idea of a good day. I think it is funny sometimes that I do a job that involves working with a lot of people - both colleagues and kids - but prefer to be on my own when not at work. I don't necessarily interact with people at work unless I have to - I spend most breaks on my own - that is my time-out for myself and that is very important for me to get through each day.

Are you visiting the electrical store for anything in particular?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Zoe7 yea I'm going to check out the air conditioning. You're right in what you're saying. It's a good way to be i suppose. The thing with me is though. Socialising is w good way to distract myself from overwhelming feelings. Example. Side effects and underlying condition. But yea in general... all relationships are very problematic and demanding.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I have a heat pump @eudemonism so it keeps the temperature regulated at what I set it at - it is brilliant to have - keeps my house at the same temperature whatever the temp outside. I think it has definitely helped me stay relatively well physically over the winter this year. It has increased my power bill but it has been worth it to not get really sick like I do most winters.

Each of us vary in how much social interaction we need - I prefer to be on my own whereas others prefer being around people. We are all different and that is a good thing.

I understand people's need to interact more often with others for varying reasons and there have been times when I have been more social but I do prefer still to be on my own with the company of my fur babies. It has been that way for a long time now and is where I feel safest.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Zoe7 It is going to be very hot here today 😞 so am going to stay inside :). Will do some exercises, have some cat naps and not do much. Our house gets very hot (no air conditioning and faces west). Will be on and off the forums throughout the day 🙂

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Hot days you need to get through the best you can @Bunniekins - especially without air conditioning Some days we need to just get through and not do much - they can also be a recharge day ...I have those often lol

@eudemonism "So i suppose the medication is doing it's job-it's managing my illness..." Good on you Eude. That is the only way you can look at it. We might hate the meds but they are doing their job with awful side effects (true) but is worse to be sick. I am glad that you are seeing a psychologist. Mine has helped me so much. She has gotten me on the waiting list of Victims of Crime so that will give me 22 free sessions (am looking forward to that).
