Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Hi @eudemonism I had DBT this morning and didn't have time to log on. I have been to a shop today that I didnt make it to yesterday so all the things I had on my list to do are now done.

What was the group activity you did today?

I hope your day has continued to be a good day.

@Zoe7yea it's worked out alright... i get frustrated with my sore foot though; i accidentally broke a bone in my left foot, about 9-10 years ago, and whenever I'm walking or doing work around the house, it sometimes flares up with pain; it's very uncomfortable to experience... It's always on the back on my mind, it's a huge inconvenience...

My foot didn't heal properly, there's a slight deformity, I've adjusted my physical life and mental attitude around this; it took a good 18 months to heal properly; -the few times I've felt slightly inclined to increase my exercise or physical activity; or have been motivated and well enough to try working again, I've quickly realised it couldn't be possible without great discomfort or flaring up bad pain/arthritis...

It's not bad bad... but it's also definitely not good!... it was a work place injury (got screwed around by employers, health service providers and work cover) was unwell throughout the whole process; had no supports) -i took the job as an attempt to sort my life out and get myself well and on track again -the mental health team, my family and people on the work place *were all involved... it was in the early stages of my diagnosis and journey through the mhs... It's definitely one of my bad experiences in life...it definitely didn't turn out well... i really tried to avert and prevent being caught up in the mhs, it was my escape plan; and it failed 😊

@Zoe7 the group activity waz just a get together...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

A get together is good - it at least gets you out of the house and doing something @eudemonism. It sounds like the pain in your foot would be uncomfortable - especially if it flares up only sometimes - that would be really annoying

Do you have any plans for tonight or just a quiet one in - that is what I am planning.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I've been invited out to tea with friends @Zoe7 -i hesitated at first; said can i have ten minutes to think about it? Then accepted...
Yea that is right. Getting out of the house and socialising is very important... crucial actually...
Yea i consider my head injury to be like my foot injury... it done damage; but only i know the pain it causes... smalls bits of severe pain easily turn me off of doing all the little things which make a difference...

That is exciting that you are heading out for dinner - hope you have a lovely evening @eudemonism

Injuries of any kind can cause us pain and it is learning to know how to manage that pain that becomes important so we can get by day to day. When we also have a MI it does make it harder to tackle both - they often seem to feed off each other.

Yea @Zoe7 i can't shake or let go 0f the idea that my head injury caused me a few permanent problems. -I was very young at the time it happened, and it's a vague memory, but i swear i remember the doctor flashing a pen torch in each of my pupils (this is to see if one pupil dilated and the other did not) which signifies one of the hemispheres being injured/damaged.. then later on in life-i come down with serious mhi ...

I know mi always has external as well as internal factors which contribute to a diagnosis... -the reason i stress about this-is because I've had such great difficulties in life... great difficulties finding peace, comfort; my needs, a meaning and purpose; joy, happiness; health and wealth...

I just want to know what the causes are so i can deal with it. Plus i want answers.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I think there are mutliple reasons why people develop a MI @eudemonism - and a head injury could be one of them. Whilst it is not necessarily the whole reason it surely could be a contributing factor. The brain is so complex but there are also factors outside of the working of the brain that contribute to MI also.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea that's it hey @Zoe7 i suppose i just want answers to my problems... the mi indeed brings me down... social problems especially... not feeling comfortable around crowds or lots of people or new people or in public places... or in my own skin sometimes...
How has your evening been?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

MI affects us all differently @eudemonism but I think one of the universal things it does is affects our mood - usually negatively.

I am about to settle in for the night and watch tv
