Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

I have to disagree from my point of view @eudemonism My GP has been with me every step of the way and has made a lot of after hours calls and texts - especially when I was at my worst. My previous psychologist was available 24/7 for me as well and even drove me to the school leaver's dinner so I could say goodbye to the kids - at the time I couldn't drive that far because of my anxiety. So they both went above and beyond and I will always be grateful for that. Basically without what they did and without the support here of the forum I would no longer be here - so for me it made a massive difference.

I am very well aware that this was all exceptional care and not many have such great care.

Hello @eudemonism

I agree with you that there is definitely a certain standard of care to be abided by medical health professionals...

Some are good with certain health issues for instance physical body needs yet have not skills with mental health..

some people in the mental health field are excellent...

there are also some who should not work in that area at all as have no people skills...

I have had a mixture of both..

I am very happy with my psychotherapist now...who caters for my needs and often works around my other health issues...

It is very much a keep on looking for the right mix that suits you....

There are some very good people within the public system as well...again some who should not be...

I think more what suits your needs rather than someone being right or wrong...does that make sense?

I had better go and feed my cats...I am being glared at....

Speak again sometime tomorrow Eude

bye for now

Yea @Zoe7 you've got to realise that we are two totally different people, with two totally different stories...
There is also a side of me; that greatly appreciates everything the treating team has done, to help get myself as stable and well as possible, because without it, i could truly be awhole lot worse off.
And on the other hand, from my prospective; it's been an open/shut case of; diagnose, medicate and manage...

But yea, somedays Zoe; I'm thinking, life ain't that great, i got awhole lot of problems and challenges I'm dealing with... how do i change this? How do i change my circumstances for the better? And more or less... it looks like I'm going to be stuck in this position indefinitely... and have no other choice but to ride it out-whether good or bad... whether i like it or not...

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yeah I completely understand that @eudemonism That is why my views are only from my perspective and the help I have had. I also understand that your situation is very different to mine and your experiences are very different. We all experience things differently and it is often that the right 'fit' for one may not be right for another also. I am lucky that I have found that right fit in my treating professionals but I do understand that you have had a very much different experience.

@Zoe7 is there a particular point in your life where the anxiety waz triggeredr? Or do you think it developed early on in life?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Definitely triggered early in my life @eudemonism but has come and gone depending on circumstances and sleep patterns have had a lot to do with it too. The more depressed I am the higher my anxiety also.

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Zoe7 I'm quite frustrated somedays... and the treating team usually cop the brunt of my grumblings... i always find a reason to blame them, i always pick where they've gone wrong, i always notice what they didn't do or could of done better... i hardly ever listen to them, take their advice, trust or believe them; the last thing i want is more of their medications... everything they are as a treating team... the years of education, the tactics, the strategies, the hours upon hours or studying... the courses upon courses... the experiences upon experiences... -i am simply coming against with my own opinon... my own interpretation... my own understanding...

You have a right to your opinion @eudemonism just as they have a right to theirs. When it comes down to it everyone is still a human being and no-one is infallible, We can only go by the evidence that is placed in front of us and we all deserved to be heard.

Yea @Zoe7 any mental illness is complicated. Have you ever had racing and jumbled thougths? that were paranoid or delusional thougths? Trouble putting words together? Felt like you had two minds about everything?
