Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

@Sophia1 anything to do with media is a conspiracy. I seen the sbs thing, and I'm keeping my distance, because i think it's a load of rubbish.

I understand what you meant about a downer now @eudemonism

some sort of sedative to calm yourself....I use those sometimes..

can you stretch your cigarette supply out...smoke half or something then have rest later...until you are able to get more if you need them then..?

The programme on SBS would not appeal to quite a few people I imagine...quite confronting...

I am interested in helping to bring about a healthier awareness of experiencing mental unwellness...

I want to see more change within the medical health system itself...

Educate the health workers at all levels more...

If they have more learning available...they can start to have more understanding...

take care of yourself tonight...hoping that you find some peace and rest..

speak tomorrow

I'm expecting the treating mental health team to listen to my opinon about my mental illness and the medications side effects. And to take my opinon seriously, and work around this, in away that suites myself and not them or anyone else. Because ultimately, it's my life, and ultimately they've committed actions against my will.

What direction can you see your life going in if treatment is changed according to how you would prefer it to be @eudemonism?

@eudemonism Basically I agree with you. I cannot do that because of my children I have my hands tied as they are watching my every move with my mi. I have to toe the mi line, take my medication and behave myself. I say as long as no one gets hurt you do as you please Eude with my best wishes to you my friend.

Good question @Zoe7 I'm not actually sure to be honest with you... however, I've got reoccurring problems, that I would like to deal with... bad habits being one problem.

I'm getting exposed to all these system based expectations, guidelines and advice; and I'm finding it really hard to live up to them... and I'm actually thinking, they may be unrealistic... so I'm between the devil and the deep blue sea; when it comes to reality vs expectations... all these expectations, guidelines and advice; are supposed to help make me well and ease the burden of suffering; but if it's not one thing, it's another.

Hello @eudemonism

You will have an opportunity to voice your needs at this new psychiatrist appointment..

The psychiatrist will have more power in making a decision about ongoing medication than the mental health team..

I think that the main concern these days is continuing to take medication...if you can demonstrate this...you have a stronger chance of coming off of the injection....

Above everything else you have a right to be listened to...your concerns heard and taken into account...

as well as have all options...side effects...explained to you properly...

There are more choices in medications available now than fifteen to twenty years ago...I am not sure how long you have been on the one that you are on now...

Write your concerns down...current side effects that are impacting greatly on your life so that the new psychiatrist can read them.....making this upcoming appointment far easier for you...

@Bunniekins yea I've thought about that scenario with other people as well. Being caught up in the mental health system ain't good news for anybody. It's a daily struggle aye... i think half the act, when you're dealing with mhs, is fearing what they can do, and fearing the suffering they can inflict; upon ones life. As apose to, fearing mainstream society and what they can do, to ones life. It's just a new and updated version of fright, flight or fight... as apose to the relaxation reaction... again, all the emphasise is upon there being something wrong with the patient/ one making a scene...

@Sophia1 they need to put their financially motivated education to the side. And accept that I'm a perfectly normal human being, who has nothing wrong with their mind.

The biggest problems I'm faced with each day, is the medication side effects. Until they realise and deal with this, in a proper and appropriate manner. I'll be thinking about them, and treating them, in the same according manner.

My biggest problem, past, present and future; is dealing with people and their sicknesses. It's broken me, it's crushed me; it's destroyed me... then when i reach out for help... i find myself diagnosed and medicated...

Who is the sickest, of the sick, in this land of sickness? Let your sicknesses run freely...
