**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Apologies for this long, ranting post, but I have to get it out of my head. I don't care if you read it or not.

For weeks now, I felt so incredibly overwhelmed with sadness; on the edge of tears constantly that never get released. I'm back on medication for depression which doesn't seem to be working after 3 weeks.

Nothing brings much satisfaction anymore, not even my job, which was one thing I had to hold onto to keep me going. And after yet another impulsive attempt and a trip to hospital last weekend, where I also take shifts, my professional conduct & capacity is being questioned by other staff and departmental managers. I don't blame them; I would probably feel the same way.

My SI is actually an acceptable 'coping mechanism' for my BPD when life gets to much, and I need to shut down. But now it's become a burden and problematic because of how often I've presented to hospital in the last 6months. Often if I feel 'safe' enough, I stay home and sleep it off. So now, after feeling like I've burdened health services to the point of annoyance, I feel like I have go ahead and made a proper effort because I deserve to be punished for that. I can't 'urge surf' these SI/SA thoughts anymore. I feel compelled to put them into proper action. Now that I have made that decision, I am scared, that if I really intend to go through with it, there's no coming back, no tommorows.

Why do I now suddenly care so much about dying, when I never did before with any other major attempts? I don't really know, but it's got me really rattled how stuck my mind is on making it work. I guess maybe I want to stick around for a bit longer. But this feeling of hopelessness is all consuming and strong.

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to turn to anymore, as the support services have heard it all before, so nothing they suggest helps. Not even my loved DBT skills help. How do you keep going when nothing helps, loved ones can't reach you, and it's just takes so long to feel any bit of right?

Hi @Sans911

I am not sure if your mh workers have specific agendas, but I started writing notes down about my appointments years ago. Sometimes they were questions, or responses, or just areas I wanted to discuss.

As I was not much of a talker back then, the writing down was key and a reminder when in overwhelm (like @CheerBear said) and so important to getting me to vocalise.

It can be a way of expressing something from within the sense of overwhem and then being able to work on it. I dont think there are any :right: questions, just genuinely the ones that emerge from within your own story.

Take care

Re: Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

@AppleblossomThanks for your post, it is appreciated. I too get stuck when i am overwhelmed, which is the point I am getting to now before my appt. I have some things I want to know, some gaps I want filled, so yes, perhaps I should write those down. I don't know this pdoc very well, so I don't know what her plans or even assessment of me is. This is my third visit. So may be today i'll focus on getting to know what the answers are to that. Thanks, you've given me some things to start with.

Re: Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

@Appleblossom@Faith-and-Hope@CheerBearWell, Appleblossom, I followed your advice , and got only partial answers, but that's enough for now. But I did write after the appointment some key issues that are important right now; I have never done that before. My appointment with the pdoc, and then my case manager were both fine, except for my level of frustration at nothing changing, and not even for some time yet. I don't have to be admitted to hospital, thank goodness, but I wasn't entirely truthful and they never asked about my level of risk right now. They actually think I look better; perhaps I am and I just don't realise it.

I was enouraged to go back onto medication just to try to balance my mood instability. It was one of the first ones I trialled, which worked well for about 6months. It's not that I am against medication per se, but the risk to me that they represent in terms of my occasional impulsitivity and use for SH.

And I have to pull a brave front and confront my house mate very soon in a calm and rational manner as to when she intends to pay rent, or does she need to leave? It's been six weeks since she was made unemployed, and she is only making small efforts to look for work. She tells me money is coming from her parents overseas, but now there is some communication issue...hmmm. I haven't been able to work in for over 2months, and my unemployment benefit has had to cover the entire rent and utilities in this time. She is genuinely a nice person, but she is avoiding me a lot, and I (and my family) think she is hiding something. But I hate being the bad person.

So I continue to remain stuck, I can't work right now, and I have a very, very difficult journey ahead if anything is going to change for the better. I have never been ready for this change, as much as it is needed, I am not sure if I have enough strength to survive to the other side.

Re: Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Hi @Sans911. Thanks for letting us know how you got on. I was hoping you'd have some good news. It sounds like you got a bit of a mixed result maybe.

It's great to hear that you got some answers and that you were able to identify some important things afterwards. When is your next appointment?

I know you were concerned you'd feel some pressure to have an admission this weekend which you didn't want, so it's good that you don't have that worry now. I find it a bit concerning that they didn't seem to identify your level of risk at the moment. I've had times before when I've felt pretty unsafe, and while I can feel a sense of 'phew, dodged that one' when it isn't picked up on, it can also leave me feeling worried about how to get by until I feel better.

The house mate situation sounds like a big stress you don't need at the moment too. You're not a bad person for asking for someone to pay their share of rent. I understand how tricky and hard that could feel for you though.

Sending you big hugs for the stuck place you're in at the moment and for the challenges you've gotten through this week (that I'm imagining have taken their toll)

Re: Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Thanks for the update @Sans911, been thinking how you got on this afternoon. I won't say anything about not being entirely truthful because I find I do the same thing.

I think you have shown a great deal of strength. Since joining here, you have been someone who has given me such good advice but as always, I guess it is hard at times to take our own advice.

From what I have seen on this forum, there are people on here that will support you in your difficult journey and help you to reach the other side regardless of how long that may take.

Big hugs to you tonight
