Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

I get so tired of being strong and being positive and thinking of a new approach. I feel pull out positivity like a rabbit from a hat but that it can become false. I am now hypersentsitive and ambivalent about whether I should continue to post or withdraw.

I have had low self-talk and concentration poor.

My son has been the most loyal of all my family to me ..it worries me because he is vulnerable too.

Nobody else cares and I put a lot of effort into family events for decades.

I started swearing and calliing myself piece of dirt and other things like I am becoming a teenager.d .. but i dont want to have to be teenage boy all the time ..

I would like to have been useful

I have managed to get some help and am grateful, for what has worked.

I used to hug everybody ... after I "learned" the importance of affection in therapy ... see no boundaries ... how to have emotionally healthy boundaries and still be inclusive ... that is ze question.

@Appleblossom At one stage I lost track of time of day too. I was sleeping in 4 hour blocks with just an hour or two awake in between. I don't remember how much time it was in months, could have been a year or more. One time I was asleep and heard the key in the front door and called out to my partner, 'have a good day'. Turns out he was just coming home from work, not just going, as I had thought. It was blackly funny for both of us.

Regarding hugs, I try to feel out at the time whether it feels right or not. Mostly it's something between friends for me.

Well I've broken my midnight rule and I'm now on the night shift. I wish I was tired. It's hard to leave such a nice get-together tonight. I do like these times when there are a bunch of us online and chatting together.

Oops probably shouldn't have written that about hugs I do hug my kids though and I'm not a cold person (lol in my own humble opinion!!) I just find it really hard to be touched or something or other maybe worse since my marriage ended... Like physical affection just can't be trusted or really meant for me... I don't really know.

For a while I had a young piano teacher in my late 20s ... through all the deaths etc ... and she was a hug all her students ... very demonstrative type ... I also had seen "the hug" encouraged in primal therapy etc.. so when I started teaching I usually ended up being a little affectionate to adult students ... and cheery with school age kids and parents ... teens werent into hugs ...

I hugged my sibs too but it was often very desperate ...

@Former-Member You don't seem like a cold person at all. It's not surprising you don't feel like hugging people except virtually at this time. But I'll happily take and return your virtual hug.
