The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

@frog Little bits definitely count! And yes, I'm sure we would all super like to hear about your meditating adventures.

@Mazarita it sounds like you are yoga-ing just fine. I can't wait to hear when you make it to a class.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Thanks so much @Phoenix_Rising for being our Yoga Forum instructor even when attendance has dropped off. I must say though that tagging has worked a treat and we have a bit of lively discussion of Yoga and other stuff here.

Good that people are getting to classes with real live people as opposed to virtual Yoga.

This afternoon we used the wall a lot to offer added resistance to our poses. It was a different way as usually it’s all floor based. We even did the good old legs up the wall with the option of shoulder stand (which I did)

We did table and cat, cow as well. I have a vision in my head now of cats and cows around a table. I wonder if @Former-Member does that with her kids.

@TheVorticon Sounds like a Yoga loving tech head. You lost me at “explore element”

@frog has coupled yoga and Meditation - that goes perfectly together.

@Shaz51 - a letter from your Mum, a doctor’s certificate or a Stat Dec should suffice if you don’t do your pose.

I hope the others in your class didn’t have to stand on their head @Phoenix_Rising. Perhaps they could just watch you do it.

@Mazarita - posing but not in a class is perfectly fine.

How cute are these little kitties?

@soulnot yet, but that is a good idea. Will try it tomorrow night!

Re: The great yoga adventure

I'm happy to do "Happy cat/ Angry cat" poses - that's what they're called in our Yoga classes.

I just watched your video to refresh my memory (practice) - that's the first time that I've ever heard it being called the Cat/Cow pose....

I've always been around, giving likes to posts.

It's been hard to write much or often, since so tired & late in the evening - it's bedtime now...

I'm still adjusting to the surprise of finding 9 Budgies in the aviary (several weeks ago), instead of the usual 3.

That was 6 Baby Budgies all at once - they were doing yoga poses all over the aviary floor...

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody,

I have tabled/catted/cowed today, have you? I yoga-ed first thing this morning. I really do super enjoy yoga-ing.

@soul Hee hee, no, we didn't do the head standing adventure in my class last night. However we did do dolphin pose and planking on our forearms which are precursors to doing the stand-on-your-forearms inversion that my teacher started teaching me in my private lesson. That definitely takes more strength than I currently have in my forearms so it was good to get some ideas of how to build up to it.

@Adge, wow six baby budgies yoga-ing on the aviary floor. Are they all ok? I bred budgies when I was a kid and super enjoyed it.

Ok, well this was a bit brief tonight because I am about to head off to something I need to do. I fully intend to table/cat/cow again tomorrow. I super hope you will join me.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Phew - we had a challenging session this afternoon. Mostly standing poses and a lot of downward dog and planking. Also some one legged poses. Feels good though.

We also tabled and catted and cowed so that covers me for today.

I have never done an early morning class @Phoenix_Rising. There are 6:00pm ones but I walk at that time with my dog. Not sure that she would pass as an assistance dog and be allowed in the studio. She does do a pretty good downward dog move though. She’s a natural.

Wonder if there have been a few more tables and cats and cows in Forumland today???

Hmmm - that cow’s not doing her pose properly.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Yogis and Yoginis are missing in action I see.

I participated in an active Vinyasa class this afternoon which ran into my final Meditation session. By that time my tummy was growling which was a tad embarrassing.

Anyway, we catted and cowed and tabled so that was all good.

No yoga class for me tomorrow as I shall be heading off to North Thailand. Wonder if I can yoga on the plane? Something like this maybe.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody, I tabled/catted/cowed today AND yesterday - did you?

@soul I was going to ask you if you planned to yoga on the plane. Now that you have posted that picture I absolutely definitely want to hear that you did that!!!!

I wonder what cool yoga adventures you will have in Thailand???

I am working hard on trying to stand on my forearms. I can't wait until I can do it. I haven't got any balance at all at the moment. Oh well, it's a work in progress.

I hope everybody is having a nice week.

Happy yoga-ing.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Totally intend being a cat, cow and table on the plane. Didn't go to a class today and really missed it. Not sure whether the instructors will be instructing in English in Thailand. Might be more a case of watch what they do.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hi everyone.

I did several angry cat & happy cat poses today.

My stomach was so tight doing several backward bends during class this afternoon.

Yes the 6 baby Budgies are all fine & happy thanks @Phoenix_Rising

It's quite a crowd or happy family out there in the small aviary at the moment - now 9 Budgies, 3 Bourke parrots, & the 2 Barbary doves.

My other 2 aviaries are bigger & less crowded - with about 25 finches in each aviary.

That's half the number of what I used to have years ago.

Yes the baby Budgies really were doing funny antics on the aviary floor - that looked a bit like yoga poses...
