The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Oh yes, a walking thread is a good idea too, @soul, @Shaz51, @Maggie. Count me in.

@Phoenix_Rising, I will be forever associating yoga with yogi bear now!

Today I treed (number 6). I also unrolled my much unused yoga mat and did the child pose. I have some difficulty with it in either position. The second position shown on the video is easier but I still can't get my bum on my heels when I've got my forehead on the ground. I shall persist nonetheless.

By the way, when I said 'advanced yogis', I just meant anyone who had done more than a few easy-version tree poses.

Happy posing today everyone!

p.s. I also did my yoga barefoot for the first time today. Slow and steady...

Hi @Phoenix_Rising! 😄

It's been a long time since I've spoken to you! Just wanted to let you know that I "Eagled" last week and will be doing the Child's pose this week - will keep you up to date with the details!

Got to my Yin class early this afternoon and did the child pose before the session started. Just as well, because we didn't do any during the instructor led part.

This pose can be done just about anywhere.

@Phoenix_Rising the video for this week amused me because the person starts out with a flower on their head XD If that's not a childish thing to laugh about, I don't know what is 😉

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody, I have been a child today, have you?

@soul I super like your singlet give-away promotion idea. Hey everybody, @soul is offering a free singlet to anyone who does child's pose at least five times this week. And on soul's behalf I've extended the offer to include options of a tee-shirt or hoodie...mostly because I don't wear singlets in public.

@Maggie a walking thread sounds like a super idea. I think I just saw that @soul is onto that already.

@Adge I will be super interested to hear how you go at your yoga retreat. I don't think that would be quite my thing because the spiritual aspects of yoga don't fit well with my own spiritual beliefs. However, I imagine it will be a super relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

@Former-Member Thank you for being such a great cheer squad. Here is how to do child's pose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwDVQPiQpHQ It isn't nearly as scary as the pose in that picture you posted.

@Mazarita Yay for tree number six, and double yay for unrolling your yoga mat, and TRIPLE yay for doing yoga barefoot - not that it really matters whether you go barefoot or not...though probably don't wear boots, @CheerBear has already established that that isn't comfortable!

@Former-Member I am superly duperly excited to see you here. I super missed you in Forum Land last week. I'm super glad you eagled...though you are a week behind because eagling was the week before last - last week we were pigeons. But that's ok - you are still doing better than any of the other moderators. When you see them around the office can you please poke them and tell them to be children this week.

@soul Yay for being a child today. I was a child at home and in my class this evening.

@TheVorticon Observing the fact that the person started off the video with a flower on her head is definitely a good sign that you will excel at being a child this week.

I super enjoyed my class tonight. I mentioned to the teacher that I am saving up for a private lesson with her. I super like her and I'm really looking forward to having one or two private lessons. They are just so darn expensive.

Anyway, I intend to be a child again tomorrow, I hope you will join me. Happy yoga-ing everybody.

Is child's pose our pose of the week? I'll totally be in that if it is!! I wonder if I can get through the rest of my week doing child's pose while trying to keep the Help Centre running
