The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Oh no @Phoenix_Rising I have almost run out of time to do more pigeon poses...

Yes, yes the Child's pose, that's a nice restful restorative one. I won't strain myself doing that one.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody. I have pigeoned today, have you?

@soul The picture of a bazillion goats super made me giggle. I totally agree that the baby goat give-away was a very full-on promotion. That will teach me to take marketing advice from the moon won't it! I think I know now why @Former-Member is a counsellor and not a marketing manager.

@TheVorticon I love that you pigeoned on the bed. Now you do know that only SOME yoga poses should be attempted on a bed, right? I'm not so sure that tree-ing or eagle-ing would work so well on the bed! That's my official let's-do-yoga-safely warning for the day.

It is superly duperly nice to see you here on the yoga thread @Former-Member.

@Former-Member Oh I can yoga so much better with you cheering me and everyone else on from the sidelines!

Wow, it seems like we have a lot of votes for child's pose @Adge @Ant7 @Former-Member @soul. Ok, well I guess that's settled then - tomorrow will herald the beginning of a week of doing child's pose (I am looking to @Ant7 for guidance as to how to abbreviate that! ).

See you tomorrow everyone.

Re: The great yoga adventure

@Ant7 Ok. I should be able to do that. I've been a child for the past forty years.

Re: The great yoga adventure

@Phoenix_Rising It was either that or childish lol

Re: The great yoga adventure

@Ant7...and either of those would work because I've been childish for 40 years too. See you tomorrow fellow child.

Agree @Phoenix_Rising that @Former-Member should stick with what she knows best.

Your safety warning is very apt - no tree-ing or eagle-ing on a bed - especially in summer when a ceiling fan might be in operation. Hear that @TheVorticon?

@Former-Member is cheering us on but I reckon she needs to participate. Starting off with the Child's pose is a piece of cake.

I also think we may have to do a sweep around the other threads and get more yogis on board.

Adulting seems to be a word these days. Saw a sign outside a coffee shop a while back - "Sometimes adulting is hard - coffee helps" So does that mean "childing" is allowed too? Not sure that it would be acceptable in a game of Scrabble.

This afternoon, I went to a Yin class. We held the poses for longer periods but the instructor was very considerate of those who aren't quite as flexible. If we couldn't bend our head right down - for example - we could rest it on a bolster. It was a nice class. Looking forward to further sessions this week.
