The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Oh you are very lucky @TheVorticon. All my baby goats were tucked into bed and I was about to walk away from the computer, when this little guy woke up and said he super badly wanted to be the seventh dwarf. So...here he is. He was in such a rush to get to your place, that he wouldn't even stand still for me to take off his PJs. I am so superly duperly impressed that you eagled every single day @TheVorticon.

Haha @Phoenix_Rising I'll make sure he gets a nice pillow to fall asleep with the other six drawfs 🙂 Thanks for taking care of all the goats this week 😉

Re: The great yoga adventure

Did you know that there is a story about a wolf and seven baby goats? The mother goat goes out one day and a wolf goes to their home. He tricks them into opening the door by disguising himself as the mother and once in he eats up six of them- the smallest baby goat has hidden.

The wolf with the full belly goes to sleep under a tree. The mother goat comes home and the baby tells her what has happened. She then slices the wolf open releasing the six kids and fills his stomach with rocks before sewing him up.

When the wolf wakes up, he goes to the river to drink and the weight of the rocks causes him to drown. Something like that.

Not that it will happen to our baby goats because we shan't let any wolves near them. Thanks @Phoenix_Rising - you are the best goat distributor there ever was or will be.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning everybody, I hope everybody's baby goats are settling in well in their new homes. And no, before you ask, there is no great give-away this week. I won't say never again...but perhaps not for a few weeks. Who knew raising baby goats was such hard work! And anyway, extrinsic rewards can only take us so far - the best time of motivation is the sort that comes from within. And so, on that note, at @soul's suggestion, this week's do-a-pose-every-day-for-a-week challenge is... pigeon pose. Yay, we are really filling Forum Land up with birdlife. Here is how to be a pigeon: https://www.doyogawithme.com/content/pigeon-pose. Remember, it is superly duperly totally ok to not be able to do it. Given how many birds we seem to be filling Forum Land up with, we can never have too many trees! So if pigeoning (should that have two "n's"???) doesn't feel like your thing, perhaps being a tree is more your style. For anyone who missed be-a-tree week, here is how to be a tree: https://www.doyogawithme.com/content/tree-pose

Happy yoga-ing

Hi there @Phoenix_Rising really appreciate the goat give away promotion. Not sure how I'll feel when they grow to full size.

I'm at the yoga studio again this afternoon. Who knows, maybe I will pigeon pose in class. As for pigeoning - definitely one "n"

Re: The great yoga adventure

It was back to the yoga studio for me this afternoon. I got there a little later than I usually do and ended up having to set my mat up right at the front. The renovations were only minor. The main room hadn't changed just the front area.

Anyway, we did a Spring Yin class where we opened our chest and diaphragm and hips and loosened our shoulders. It felt good afterwards and the session went very quickly. No pigeon pose there but I will do some tonight before I go to bed.

@Phoenix_Rising@CheerBear @TheVorticon - did you get to a session today?

Re: The great yoga adventure

@soul - I think one of the highlights of my day has been reading that you got your studio back! I hope this helps you find your groove again 🙂 Yay!

I did not get to yoga today 😞 I felt really sad that I wasn't in a place to go today. After spending the best part of an hour stuck frozen in my car thanks to a very messy morning, I decided perhaps driving again was not the best idea today. What that does mean though, is that I am still standing tonight (that's kind of important!) and very much looking forward to another chance to get to class next week 🙂

Before bed I think I will do some floor stretchy kind of stuff because I am feeling really uptight. I wonder if instead of a bird next week, we could try some kind of floor position-of-the-week? I think I could do 7 days of that 😉

Re: The great yoga adventure

I, too, am very happy to be going back to yoga sessions. I think I must have suffered from withdrawal @CheerBear. It really did lift my mood. They are holding a special meditation workshop once a week for six weeks. Might look into that too.

Floor exercises - are you meaning just laying down?? I find the pigeon pose quite relaxing. I like the stretch it provides and it calms me down.

@Phoenix_Rising - I think that goat give away was a real crowd puller. Let's see who are the diehard yogis.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Not just laying down @soul, but a position with most of the body on the ground but still stretching. I have a feeling the classes we go to are pretty different.

Good to hear it lifted your mood today 🙂
