The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Good morning to all those Eagles out there. After your pose, spread your wings and fly

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning yoga adventurers 🙂

I have been following along and practicing, though just a bit more quietly than before. Really I am posting here today just to collect my baby goat 😉 Who can resist them?!

I have found some positions to be very powerful but sometimes the powerful is in a way that is difficult to tolerate. I still like being a tree because I feel strong and sturdy in tree form, rather than vulnerable and exposed like I can do sometimes in others. Eagle is another position I think I'll get the same good feeling from once I move from tangled mess of arms and legs, to actual eagle. I had another lesson this morning with boots and yoga. I think I might try to apply the idea that 'boots and yoga are not a good mix' across all positions, rather than needing to learn this lesson for each position individually.

In class we spend quite a bit of time as various shaped mountains. We rock and tilt a little forwards, backwards, side to side etc focusing on noticing the sensation of the muscles that activate without conscious thought, to bring us back to centre and balance. I love really feeling it when I do. It's a lesson for me in the innate wisdom of the body that keeps us going without needing to really try to make it. I've made a mental note to add this knowledge to my things to remember in crisis situations.

I'm off to play with my goat now. Thank you for the reward @Phoenix_Rising 😄

Hi @Phoenix_Rising

Yay - I am one of the big birds around here and I like being an owl - but yes - I could think in eagle-fashion if I chose to be - after all - owls are raptors also - but let's see about an eagle

Pretty cool - yes - but I still feel as if the owl-person is the right one for me in my owld age - tee hee

All the best though - when you are at the yoga place think about the Phoenix - that's that's something worth your time being

Owl post it again

Gosh yes -

I hope you are as well as you can be - I am skimming across the tops of the posts - I have been feeling politically challenged and feel as if I have said enough - I am actually catching up with the Forum and myself after being away

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody, I have eagled today, have you? I am super excited to see that @CheerBear and @Shaz51 have eagled.

@CheerBear I think the idea of generalising the no-boots rule to all yoga postures is very wise. I also hope you haven't tried yoga-ing in the shower again! We did lots of mountaining in last night's class. We didn't do any treeing. I agree that treeing is very cool. I thought eagling would be pretty much like treeing...until I actually tried it. It definitely creates some tangled arms and legs (or in my case, flippers!).

Have you eagled @soul? I am guessing that you have because you are the champion of this yoga group. I super liked that song that you posted. It made me get a picture in my brain of being a soaring eagle moving across the sky in time to the music. It is very cool that @Adge is going to a yoga retreat. I wonder if he is going to do some eagling this week {waves to @Adge}.

Thank you for dropping by @Owlunar, even if you have decided that eagling isn't your thing. That is a super cool picture that you posted of the Phoenix. Thank you for reminding me of who I am, even when I am all muddled, puddled and befuddled.

Alright, time to hand out some baby goats.

This one is yours @Shaz51.

And this one is for you @soul.

And these two are ours @CheerBear. You can choose which one you want. Somehow these two reminded me of how I imagine you and I would look if we went shopping and riding on trolleys together.

Ok, well there will be more baby goats tomorrow for all eaglers. I wonder where @Former-Member is, given this was her crazy very clever idea. Come on @Former-Member, I super want to fill up the SANE office with baby goats!

Happy yoga-ing everybody.

Hi @Phoenix_Rising and other yogis. Today, after many days (weeks?) since my last (and first) tree pose... I treed again! Also my psychologist was today very encouraging about me doing yoga, so I may soon be joining you more. We shall see what happens. In the meantime, you are all yoga champions.

Re: The great yoga adventure

@Mazarita yay for treeing today!!! I think that deserves a baby goat...but shhhhh, don't tell anyone, because we are eagling this week. There is quite a bit of research that attests to the benefits of yoga for good mental health. I'm glad your psychologist is encouraging you in this endeavor. Maybe you can take your new baby goat to your next session.

Hi @Maggie, I am eagerly waiting for your image to appear. I wonder if you eagled (or baby eagled) today?
