The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

@Phoenix_Rising. I'm going to take you up on your challenge. I'm going to try and get into this yoga group - in the privacy of my own home - so baby eagle it is.
Instead of goats -as much as I need one to eat my grass - but not my fruit trees. I wonder if some of us could donate $5 (if we have it spare) - or get family, friends, church group orsport group to sponsor us $5 per week & it can be donated to SANE - to ccontinue the wonderful work they do.
Now I'm off to download a baby eagle pose. Think a baby cocky pose would have been easier for my first pose. Just saying. Lol

Thanks for that link @Phoenix_Rising. Feels strange - normally I'd be walking to my yoga session right now. Instead I shall yoga here in my lounge room. Eagle pose it is then this week. Not sure whether I want a baby goat though. You've got to be "kidding" surely ;).

@Phoenix_Rising. Took 15 minutes or so to register. Then found the link to the bird poses - crow, eagle, pigeon. Just spent 4.39 minutes and still didn't get anywhere near a bird. And I've discovered, I cant sit on my heals. Not even flexible enough for that position. So think - maybe tomorrow, ill try again with the first of the beginners class

Any progress you make is fine @utopia. There are usually modifications. Yoga is never supposed to hurt or so the instructors say.

Okay @Phoenix_Rising. Found it. Got very tangled. Arms only. Imagine if it was a whole body pose!!!
How are you meant to bring your hands together. I swear I almost snapped both arms attempting that. Instead one of my hands was below - way below the wrist of the other hand..
I'll try again later. Oh, and I sit cross legged to do floor poses. That - my body will allow

Re: The great yoga adventure

My arms are never as streamlined as the ones of the people in the video @utopia. Like I said an approximation is good enough. With practice, your body becomes more flexible.

This eagle fell off his roost. The leg thing was certainly tricky. I think you do need backwards-bending knees like an eagle for that to be comfortable.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening,

I super had to drag myself to my class tonight but I felt heaps better for having gone. I'm back to struggling a bit now, but it was still definitely worth the effort to go. We didn't do any eagling though so I eagled when I came home. Yay for me, I get a baby goat.

@utopia I would be super impressed if you could get people to sponsor you in your yoga endeavours! I did offer to rob a bank for @NikNik the other day but she didn't seem overly excited by the idea. Hey...do you reckon people would donate money in return for seeing a sea turtle stand on her head? I can do it for a really long time. I don't actually know how long because I just end up getting down when I feel like it.

Please don't injure yourself while being an eagle @utopia. No one is allowed to sue the sea turtle.

Yay for eagling @TheVorticon and @soul. Don't worry about falling off your roost @TheVorticon. This eagle was wobbling so much, she would have looked like she was trying to ride a uni-cycle to anyone watching! I fell off my roost a few times too. On the bright side, if you fall on the floor, you could then declare that "the eagle has landed."

So...it seems that we get to have four baby goats today. They are really going to keep the grass down in Forum Land...when they get bigger.

Re: The great yoga adventure

So glad you made the effort to go to yoga tonight @Phoenix_Rising. I walked past my studio with my pooch and looked at it wistfully. It really has become part of my routine much like brushing my teeth. Next Monday it should be open again.

I am so impressed at your ability to stand on your head. Have a well deserved rest tonight. Well done everybody who eagled.

I found out that @Adge is going on a yoga retreat. How awesome is that?
