The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Yes! I have my first yoga class in ages tomorrow yay! It's not too busy so I'm sure my teacher can take requests for poses 🙂

So looking forward to getting bendy and stretching out from a busy few weeks.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody, I've been a happy baby mountain today, how about you?

@soul I see you were a happy baby mountain yesterday. I bet you were today too.

@TheVorticon I'm surprised you found it easier to be a dead bug than a downward facing dog. I thought the dead bug pose would be more difficult. Oh well. I super love that you have been a dead bug.

@Ant7 I'm glad you are a happy baby at the moment. Now if you could just do the pose as well, that would be super.

@Former-Member Yay! I am looking forward to you reporting in that you have been a happy baby mountain.

@Maggie Have you been mountaining? I super think we need a mountain range in Forum Land to compliment our forest.

@Shaz51 Practice is the key. You can do it - I believe in you.

Ok, who else do I need to nag encourage to do some yoga-ing. @Former-Member @Former-Member @CheerBear @Faith-and-Hope.

This week we are working on happy baby pose and mountain pose.

Here's how to be a happy baby (or a dead bug if you feel so inclined ) https://www.doyogawithme.com/content/happy-babydead-bug-pose

Here's how to be a Mountain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stoqh4_DNr0

If you do both, you get to be a happy baby mountain like me.

That mountain pic is super cute @Phoenix_Rising. Just a small class this afternoon - eight people including the instructor. We did a fair few mountain poses but no happy baby ones. The focus for the session was on our backs and I even attempted a full bridge.

We also did the dog peeing pose (both sides so we are all balanced out) and lots of downward dogs. I was tired going into the class but it rejuvenated me. I was watching my dog stretch today and she is truly an expert at the downward dog pose. I should do it in front of her and see what she thinks.

So happy that @Former-Member is going to a class.

I was reading an article today that said that yoga was excellent for reducing anxiety.

Hi @Maggie .....

I would love to share my panting, but it is a "signature" piece ..... something that could identify me .... so unfortunately it's not one that I can share on the forums.

Sleep well ..... 🌷💕

Re: The great yoga adventure

A thunderstorm eventuated this afternoon and as I walk to yoga (20 mins), I have skipped it. Feeling lousy as I really like this session and didn't want to miss out. Maybe I can find something on the internet to follow. Has stuffed up my routine which I had gotten quite comfortable with.

Looks like the rain has just about cleared and I can take the dog walking a bit later. She is looking very expectantly at me.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Ok - so I went to my class yesterday and unfortunately there was another classmate in there! Dang, because the studio is so new and small I've been having my own private classes for a while. My secret has been discovered!!

Happy to report @Phoenix_Rising and and all the others partaking in yoga, that both mountain and happy baby were performed yesterday

@soul I reckon that is right that yoga helps anxiety, I've been really committing to yoga and pilates all year and my ability to handle "life things" has gotten sooo much better.
