Something’s not right

-Enigma-

I have given up now - no one can say it was not without a fight. But then no one on heaven and earth would give a damn anyway. I gave from the heart and it was a joy to help others. I felt such peace with that. I never did it for anything in return ever, I did it because I truly cared and felt so much genuine compassion towards others. I was promised dreams and peace would come true even though I never asked. It felt so good to know I made someone's lives a bit better.

Why is it that people like me are then faced with so much heartache, injustice, trauma and adversity that seeks to do everything in its power to destroy that good, to take the little good and peace I had, to utterly destroy me. Why?

I had always been there when possible others times of need - now that I truly need someone I have been all but abandoned by those I knew and those in the spirit. I realise now everything was a lie and feel utterless helpless and lost. I have lost everything and don't see the point in being here. I hope I don't wake up to another day of despair.

Re: Over The Edge

Hello @Maggie@Faith-and-Hope@Zoe7@Former-Member@NikNik

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for your invaluable support. I am still feeling fragile - I must of slept 11 hours last night.

Thank you @NikNik for your prompt post - your words really resonated with me and lifted just when I needed it. You were my eyes at that time preventing a crisis and enabled me to attend a very important dinner anniversary of one of my best friends whom would of been hurt herself if we didn't attend. I am still low but can see enough to climb out hopefully now - thank you for being there 💕

Thank you @Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member for also being there and offering to talk. I would of if for not having to attend the above stated dinner. When I first arrived I was so depressed, I had to force smiles in hope not to ruin my friends dinner. It was her night I kept telling myself. It was extremely difficult but I did it and it made her happy. As the night went on talking to others did help to distract from the distress which was good.

@Zoe7 - thank you for your friendship. What you reposted I have experienced and did so again here; - it is what brought healing from a Major mental breakdown 5 yrs ago and got me this far as without it I would not of made it;, but I have relapses where I lose sight of that and I need others to tell me of that light, of the reality. If you all here and my husband was not there to do that I would enter into a crisis situation as my perception turns inward to my overwhelming emotional pain (agony) and that takes hold leaving me blind to any other reality. And it's a feeling of hopelessness, no self worth and not seeing no point at that time. That can completely change when well. The nature of the beast. It's usually triggered by isolation, stress, worry and perceiving feeling useless (unwanted, even if that is not the reality I perceive it as such at that time - am blind).

The love and care here and from my husband was that light. So it is always there trying to get through. I do have trouble believing it sometimes and there is the battle. But I did and my mind has balanced. It did enough for me to hang on but I still have issues to work through. That light here and elsewhere is literally lifesaving. Reaching out when in such a state is a leap of faith. Otherwise the end result could be tragic. Thank you for your love ❤️

@Maggie - you are so right, depression comes in waves and as a result of past hurts. It can just spring when least expected or triggered by different things. My feelings of uselessness and being unwanted together in being too isolated this week I think triggered this episode. So I am planning more to do next week and will see how I go. Time will tell.

The dinner was extremely difficult in the beginning. I was so low and worried it would showed. I don't think it did and as the night progressed (and having a couple of wines to relax) I started to talk, laugh etc hiding how I felt and it worked. The night went well - I was concerned about spoiling it for my friend but if I had not gone she would of been hurt. So I had to attend as the latter would of been far worse a scenario. This morning (after 11 hrs) of sleep (too much) I still feel fragile and shaken but my perception is clearer. The latter makes all the difference to me as my episodes are triggered by those negative thoughts of feeling useless, unwanted, pushed aside, betrayed etc which is a result of past hurts for sure. You are spot on - and my mind tells me it is happening all over again and that is my reality. It's awful and the pain can overwhelm. I then don't see the point to life at that time - which can all change when better. It does come in waves. I have been very up and down lately probably as a result of the e dress trauma that went before.

I was sorry to read that you were also feeling like that 😢. And for you to make that effort for me to come online when depressed meant the world to me. It said to me that I am not unworthy and it was like I could breathe again. It's a heavy sadness and I need purpose in my life to strive. If I feel no one needs me, I have failed as a human being in offering others something, that will trigger an episode. The latter is what I get up for - not even my beach house can offer reprieve when I feel like that. Only others can and my sense of purpose. Not sure if that makes sense. I hope another episode does not assail for awhile as it takes so much out of me.

You are right that this suffering is what enable me to genuinely empathise - I can't stand to see others suffer same. I know of its torment. And in my eyes all have tremendous potential and worth. I could see that from a early age.

Are you feeling better now? Do you want to talk about it? We are here for you too as you are very valuable to us, to me and always will be. We also seem to suffer at similar times. I am so glad you posted as I would of worried. It's not easy what we go through but I am still hopeful that all will improve this way in time. And I will continue to push...As @NikNik said I have been under much for a long time and it has caught up mentally/physically - and she was spot on I feel. It will now take time to heal and I am hoping the move will fasten that healing. Hope all goes well with the fence erection. Let us know how it goes. The dogs won't know themselves, the will prance around happily feeling free as the wind. An awesome feeling. Sending much love and gratitude to you all ❤️xxx

Re: Over The Edge

hello @Former-Member and all

not discluding anyone just dont have the energy to do too many @s

you are sounding very weary still....very understandable not that long ago you were in bed physically and mentally exhausted

we can be so hard on ourselves then the first sign of improvement we expect to be back doing everything..without any glimpse of mental illness

sadly it takes time...you have done the hardest part....the next difficult stage is being kind to yourself and getting rid of such high expectations

I feel as though I am writing about myself

living in the now and letting the world just happen around us for a brief period of our lives xxxxx

Re: Over The Edge

What you maybe don't realise at the time is that even when it seems like you are not helping me when I am in a similar position as you were the other night - just being here for me does help @Former-Member - so the love, friendship and reminders go both ways I know too well how hopeless being right in the middle of that pain and despair feels - still does for most of my days and definitely nights. I am still struggling to get through each day and then feeling the crushing despair and pain that comes with the nights. I really need the support at the moment to get through these times and it really does help when I have people like you in my corner, holding my hand and walking with me - and most of all - people who understand. You are one of those people @Former-Member and I am so grateful that you are with me

@Former-Member sometimes that is all we can do - let the world happen around us and then re-join it if/when we are able to

Re: Over The Edge

Hi @Former-Member I'm pleased your dinner went well. The effort you put in there is a huge one, only you know the cost that took, your friend may never know how much it cost, but we do here. I hope you can give yourself some small credit for that.

Those feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, being unwanted, they are so overwhelming and convincing when they come at us from all angles. I tried cross stitch but kept making mistakes adding to the feelings of failure. I hope you come through this as you/we have so many times before.

All I can say it what I believe I see, and that is you are a good caring person, very much needed here and wherever you choose to be involved in life. As @Zoe7 said in her post, the words we write to each other apply to ourselves always.

I'm glad you managed a good sleep last night. Take care today, walk gently. A warm hug coming your way.

Re: Over The Edge

Hello dear @Zoe7 I will always be there for you - I know the despair. Sorry my previous post was so long - it always seems to come out that way when I open up to everyone. It's a raw honesty to where I am at - there must be a shorter way to express it lol. It makes me feel better that our support helps you @Zoe7 - it makes my suffering worthwhile. I do believe we can always draw some good from the worse situation in time, but I understand totally that we cannot always see any of that good in the time of crisis and despair. We need others then. It truly does knock me on my back when I am like that and the distress is frightening. Mornings and the middle of the night are worse for me. As the day goes on and mid evening in front of the telly or stitching are the best times. I have moments or even hours where my day can be good and life's precious times, but I never go through a day without suffering something. Some days are better than others. Those good moments I relish making memories to hold onto in the rough times or making a difference to others for inner fulfillment - there is no better healing than the latter. If I feel I can't accomplish that, or feel useless or pushed aside, I can go into turmoil and depression takes hold as that pain overtakes. That's when I need others - can't do it on my own then. Purpose, being wanted and having meaning is paramount to keeping me going. ❤️💜❤️💜❤️🌹xxx

@Former-Member - hello. Yes, I am still quite weary. Was feeling better for a day or two but came crashing down. I seem to be all over the place lately. I hope when we move that will settle. It's true that when I feel better I can go at it like a bull at a gate and then when I don't keep that momentum feel useless and then get depressed. But also those wounds from the past take over my mind and have me believing that is the reality....that's when if not helped I can go into a real crisis, and it knocks me for six physically. My whole being feels so weary....my soul is from it all I think, and getting that mojo and zest for life back will take some work from me now. All in time but I had a small taste which I haven't had for awhile so I am holding onto it still despite the relapse.

The support here from member and moderators has been tremendous and at a time I really need it to get back on my feet. I am so grateful to everyone. This makes me want to give back even more so...

You are right, it does take time. I have to accept this. Living in the now is so important - and doing what I can to block those painful negative thoughts that can assail from past trauma. The latter is my biggest battle - letting go. Just when I think I have, bang it hits again. I just have to keep dragging myself back up. Hope you are feeling better too @Former-Member 😊 Thanks for your support ❤️

How are you going @Faith-and-Hope? I will venture to the hot chocolate thread latter today - when I went to before the latter mood struck, but I will catch up. Thinking of you 🌹

Re: Over The Edge

Hello @Maggie - good to hear from you again 😊 Those emotions you spoke of are overwhelming and hard to see past at the time. You did better than me - I tried to stitch but I could not at all! I feel I should of pushed harder as then maybe my state of mind wouldn't of become so bad. I am going to do some stitching today. I suppose it does depend how severe the mood hits at the time too....I am part of a cross stitch group and some have voiced on there that stitching prevents major depresssion for them. A woman in her thirties on there suffers a terminal brain tumour and she saids it keeps her going!! Gets her up out of bed! Amazing what a beloved craft can do. I think it's because it takes our full concentration and the beautiful colours that come together are so uplifting. It works a lot of the time for me, but not all the time as I can go into distress.

Its so windy here today I think I will stay indoors. I still feel a bit shaky but I might read as well as stitch to take my mind off things. Winds make me feel uneasy.

You are a good person as well my friend - you made the same effort for me as I did for my friend. That is what love and friendship is - sacrifice. It is a big effort for me at the moment as my fatigue is huge. I need to work on getting fitter and in time my mind will start to recover more from all that has gone before me. I do say to the heavens "please no more, please let the tides turn for awhile". Time will tell.

Thank you for being there as it means a lot to me. As I shall always be there for you. I hope you are feeling better and today the sun will shine for you brightly my dear friend. You are sunshine. Lots of love ❤️
