From 2 job offers to 2 guys trying to pick you up. Think there is a pattern occurring here @outlander. So glad you did your hair and went out. Where did you go

it went ok @utopia i suppose. the day started off good, brekkie was good and then i went and seen my horse for a while which was nice but while i was there,

i was talking to a friend of mine and told her about the day i went into hospital, and what happened that day- all the msgs that were sent to me telling me to come home and i had to come home because everyone was relying one me etc etc and it actually made me sick. i was physically throwing up and still heaving for a long while after it.

i dont know what come over me!

Re: Life after hospital

Sounds like you may not be ready to tell that story yet @outlander. Sounds like anxiety might have flared up because of it.
Gently does it.

Re: Life after hospital

It hasn't been processed yet @outlander.
I know that day the Old Bugger lost the plot and decided to punish me by having me sent to the locked ward at the public hospital was horrifying. It was working on my fears over my original incident at work. I had huge fear.
And when I was trying to explain it to the new psychiatrist - I was starting to panic and freak out.
She stopped me mid sentence and said, what good came from it. I said, I no longer have the Old Bugger as my psychiatrist.
What else?
The professor of psychiatry at the public hospital didn't admit me to the ward, but keot me safe in the ED.
What else?
I stayed at hotels with mum for a few nights - out of ED.
What else?
I got into the better private hospital.
What else?
I got you (new psychiatrist).
What else?
New meds.
What else?
I'm safe here.
Her whole point being - when we are triggered - it is very easy to focus on that fear & to let it overtake our thoughts & that can lead to anxiety or panic attacks.
So try and focus on what good came after that incident.
You were looked after by the hospital.
You were kept safe.
Your family now know what's really going on for you.
You have a new psychologist that looks like she is going to be really good.
We need to shut down the terror feelings as soon as they crop up & immediately focus on what good has come of something. Or the good things in your life. This way we can stop our body reacting (on a cellular level).

Re: Life after hospital

@utopia
its just so frustrating. I thought id be ok though I know it was very distressing and only last week. Seems like a lifetime ago.
I struggle to tlak about mental health issues at all otherwise it triggers me.
I know there are lots of positives to going and for that.

When I was in there I was in a small psych room for 9 hours by myself with noone else, going insane by the dots on the wall. I was triggered as well because hospital is a trigger, and ambulances are a trigger and I went in 2 of them in the same day.
I know you went through a heap os shite with the old bugger. I remember reading quite abit about it before in your thread.

I dont know how to stop the feelings, they kinda just burst out all the time and it never seems to be only minor anymore and they take a a lot of time and energy even with the prns and normal medications I have for anxiety and depression.

I seem to be failing at a lot of things and not really knowing what to do or how to fix them.

I did get a phone call from the mental health team to check on me, then another psychologist that offers 3 free psych sessions to help get me on my feet as well as putting me in touch with other support systems such as crisis stays and things like that.
I also made an appointment to see my psychiatrist next thursday as well. I hope that doesnt bring all my paranoia back casue at the moment its settled.

Re: Life after hospital

I have a safe place in my mind. It has to be a real place I feel comfortable where I meet with the one person whom I know loves me and has all the answers. Usually it's that I know many of the answers but they swim around my head unless I go to my safe place. You could meet anyone there that you know calms you. As I'm a Christian it if Jesus for me but it could be a friend, counsellor, dog, cat, old teacher, whoever. Just a place where you can go when something difficult is happening. I go there when I can't take another minute or I'm sad and I process all my traumas from that place and my counsellor is happy for me to do that when I'm with her....she has no choice. I am paying her! I know no matter how bad it gets, I can stay there all day and no matter what, I'm able to see I can ride the wave. There are always ebbs and flows.

Re: Life after hospital

@Koko

i have a safe place- my place is a waterfall scene but without leeches!! and its quiet and i can hear the water flowing, and the gentle breeze and the fresh smells.

ut its a pity i cant be there all the time. i have to learn to live back in the normal world and stop running from it. thats where my greatest struggle is now that ive left hospital.

and i feel like a total idiot and failure becasue i cant seem to get by bearings straight
