Hey Life - give me a break.

Hey Life - give me a break.

@PeppiPatty - regarding my story - it probably warrants a thread of its own. Really needing my friends@Shaz51@Faith-and-Hope@Determined@Former-Member@Former-Member@Anony18@outlander@Former-Member @PhoenixRising @Former-Member

Sexually assaulted at age 13. Have never told my family.

Went to uni and moved away afterwards for work so fully independent then.

Came back to my home town after a couple of years.

Had a couple of serious relationships and ended up marrying a narcissist used car dealer (say no more) Basically raised my kids by myself. At 40, he had a fling with a married 19year old who already had a two year old child. He fathered a child with her and I found out some time later when I discovered he was paying child support payments. Stayed in this loveless marriage until the kids had finished school, then divorced which was nasty and I suffered financially big time. Had loaned his business money but didn't have anything legal drawn up. He also moved a lot of money around and had an overdraft on our home.

Got into a relationship with someone who was actually interested in me and shared common interests. It was the best and worst time of my life. He fits all the criteria of BPD. Moved interstate to be with him. The relationship became volatile and he physically assaulted me. This is when I became involved with this Forum. On one occasion, a neighbour called the police and he was arrested. They saw my injuries, he admitted guilt and he was imprisoned. I stood by him all during his incarceration, funding an appeal and he was released after eight months only to be deported as he wasn't an Australian citizen. I joined up with him overseas but the assaults continued. He got sporadic help for his MI but wasn't committed to getting better.

Eventually after yet another particularly bad assault and having the police involved, I returned to Australia and that was four and a half months ago. He appears to be serious about managing his condition now, taking medication, going to support and counselling sessions and hopes that I will return. However, all trust has been obliterated. We still have contact and that can get traumatic at times.

I started off on the Carers' side but find myself on the Lived Experience team as well. I have been having sessions with a psychologist.

Thrown into the mix is my own family. They don't know what I have been through. I used to care for my father and mother, used all my holiday and long service leave, taking time off work and eventually quitting so I could be there for them. Two of my siblings also live nearby but they were more concerned about building wealth than our parents' wellbeing so it was left to me. My father passed away and when I left to be with my partner, my mother's care was transferred to them. I feel they resented my decision but for the first time in my life I felt I was entitled to pursue happiness (not that it turned out that way) The sibs shut me out and when Mum passed away recently things went from bad to worse and as Executors of her will they scattered her ashes when and where they wanted without telling me and are responsible for distributing her estate however they see fit. There was no funeral or memorial service.

I live with my daughter and my son lives with his father. I love my kids with all my heart and live for them. I have a dog (actually my daughter's) who is my constant companion. I do a lot of walking and listening to music to escape the depressing thoughts I feel. I have no idea what to do with my life now and think it's all a cruel joke.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

No she won't go into aged care Faith and Hope, there's my other stress,if anything happened to her I fear I will be homeless, can't get a job,and I lost everything taking the gamble to get my life, actually lost my investment I put in the farm through selling it I now realised.Weird situation that destoyes me,other sibling lives 25 minutes away, had a coffee with Mum the other day ,first time since Mother's day.I don't have nothing to do with them, mum nearly died last year and they treated me awful, and when it comes to me or them I'm the one to blame whether it's my fault or not but it's OK to not let me live my life,to go out the door without feeling guilty. If I have appointments like yesterday she comes and sits in the car.I try to tell her in a way hinting that I prefer to go on my own she only thinks of herself.I never was allowed to grow and blame her for many things. The thing I hate is I can give up my life, but she can turn on me in a second. It is a form of psychological control, the way I'm played on that's not healthy NC even iI don't SC,I realize I am slowly destroying myself through anxiety, depression high cholesterol, and at the moment high blood pressure.I lived my life for someone who never gave me a chance Faith and Hope,if your situation is crippling you ,you can't help but weigh up the pros and cons.

Soul the bloke of mine, many times I just wanted to be friends, that wasn't enough for him,and I would feel guilty at constantly rejecting him.You need to cut the cord with them it's their way or nothing.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

There's been up, downs, sideways, slamming into walls and careering off the road @soul .... I feel like I have been in a cement mixer if I stop to think about it .... so I don't stop to think about it .....

From what I can work out, the privacy laws are tgere in an effort to prevent "gas-lighting" ..... but that didn't stop WH from trying to gas-light me ....

The issue with Anosognosia (yes .... I have that word on repeat now .....) is that without any recognition that he is unwell, he can only interpret my behaviour or anyone else's according to his own reality ..... and that reality says that I am jealous of his weight-loss success and, instead of emulating his methods and achieving the same results for myself, I am bent on trying to tear down his achievement ..... which makes me an adversary who needs to be silenced, and then tolerated. His perspective is that my behaviour has resulted in our son suffering collateral damage, so the swift OCPD diagnosis over him completely blind-sided him .... but even then he seems to have taken note if the "too controlling" factor and then disregarded the label .... going to some pains to control his need to control, with limited success.

The pdoc has worked out that we have a giant mess on board here ..... referred to it as a Pandora's Box, and made it perfectly clear that he doesn't consider any of that his responsibility ..... doesn't want to try to work out all the he-said-she-said and who is right and who is wrong .....

The news I have for him, that he didn't want to listen to, is that in his disordered state, WH has been emotionally abusive and controlling to a degree that is insufferable ..... but the worst of that occurred on the cusp of S2 being diagnosed and sent to the pdoc ..... So ahead of taking on the firestorm while S2 was in too fragile a state to be able to attempt it anyway ..... I'm walking this path .....

I wanna hear from somebody at the end of all this that I should have been listened to, and I shouldn't have had to try to hold up the fortress for eight years, watching it implode and cause collateral damage across our whole landscape ..... for crying out loud ..... which I often do .....

I want something about the system to be changed as a result of what we have had to endure.

I'm numb at the moment, but I reckon when the tide eventually turns, I'm gonna start getting real mad .... ☹️

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Sounds like a very difficult situation for you @soul

As hard as it is (and I know how hard it has been for me) a clear expression of boundaries is the only real way forward.

For me what gave me the strength to get the boundaries under way was that I reached a point where I realy didnt care how my darling reacted or what she said about me, it couldnt posaible be any worse than I had endured already.

I took the step of discussing the process with an unbiased third party (being my councillor) to ensure that my expectations were realistic and I was not acting irrationality based on emotion so I was confident my motives and intentions were out of love and concern not only for my darling but for my own health and wellbeing.

Unfortunately Soul, we can not be responsible for someone elses actions or reactions. It took me a long time to learn this and I still find it so difficult not to take it personally when the poo hits the fan.

I supose what I am trying to say is that I think laying out strict boundaries is a good idea with clear consequences if the boundaries are breached. Ie cutting contact altogether. Very hard to do when you have cared for someone. (I find it hard enough ignoring the phone for a couplemof hours while in a meeting) . If he is after 1 last chance tell him thats it and all he is going to get.

Feeling for you at the moment and trust this difficult phase passes soon. You seem like an amazingly caring person and deserve so much better .

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope - anosognosia - had to Google that one. I can see how you feel that you are operating in a different universe. Like speaking two different languages. So frustrating.

I got an email last night asking me to please stop hating him. To me this implies that he has no understanding of his behaviour and it is this situation which I am fearful of. Is recovery possible? Can a mindset like that be altered? Does someone actually listen to reason? Can they see another point of view? Or is it a lost cause? I don't know.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

They are the exact questions I need answered @soul ..... but it's still too early for us.

The ocpd diagnosis came through S2's pdoc, so WH doesn't have a pdoc of his own at this stage. They don't know about the anosognosia in relation to the e.d..... they don't know about the e.d..... S2 is still their central focus, but WH is the ?mthership" ....

Good morning.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Hi Faith and Hope,and Soul
Thought of you and your theory on"the hook".Said to yous how I texted my bloke at the doctor's on Friday saying that I wasn't going to txt again and it wasn't healthy for us to resume relationship. He ignored me,until he txt me 330 am,this morning, worried about my "headspace"and how he was there for me and to txt him back.I did ,he took another hr to reply ,wanting me to give us a chance,I replied with mixed feelings, and he made it sound like he was doing me a favour if "I wanted to".I replied, stating my confusion at not knowing what to think. He took 40 minutes to reply asking again. My final text was to state that we were finished, and neither of us needs it".Didn't hear from him since.
I had high blood pressure as stated yesterday, been through this with him,but the main thing was the night he sent constant abusive texts.I told him that night the trust was gone, and that's all I could think of when I sent the final texts that I don't trust him. Also I never know when I've got hiim, and I felt he knew I was struggling this morning and was playing on it.The fact he can take days to get back to me and decided to txt me at 330 in the morning I find strange.I don't know but the fact I sent the final txt without hesitation,I think I answered my own post.It is confusing when someone presents a Dr Jeckle/Hyde personality.

I keep asking myself that same question,

At least for my situation it seems that there is a constant victim mindset, all my darling can see is everything that is done wrong to her and can not see her contribution in anything. If something is black she will convince herself it is white and there is no room for discussion. Even if we wait for a calm moment to raise a topic after the dust has settled on an issue it will quickly escalate to another crisis .

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

How frustrating for you @Former-Member. Playing those mind games with you. You can do without that. It's only going to affect your own mental state in a bad way.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

It's so hard when they won't take any responsibility and are quick to blame anything, anyone and everything else for why they act like they do. When something goes wrong, it's never their fault.

This victim mentality is wearing thin with me @Determined.
