Hey Life - give me a break.

Hey Life - give me a break.

@PeppiPatty - regarding my story - it probably warrants a thread of its own. Really needing my friends@Shaz51@Faith-and-Hope@Determined@Former-Member@Former-Member@Anony18@outlander@Former-Member @PhoenixRising @Former-Member

Sexually assaulted at age 13. Have never told my family.

Went to uni and moved away afterwards for work so fully independent then.

Came back to my home town after a couple of years.

Had a couple of serious relationships and ended up marrying a narcissist used car dealer (say no more) Basically raised my kids by myself. At 40, he had a fling with a married 19year old who already had a two year old child. He fathered a child with her and I found out some time later when I discovered he was paying child support payments. Stayed in this loveless marriage until the kids had finished school, then divorced which was nasty and I suffered financially big time. Had loaned his business money but didn't have anything legal drawn up. He also moved a lot of money around and had an overdraft on our home.

Got into a relationship with someone who was actually interested in me and shared common interests. It was the best and worst time of my life. He fits all the criteria of BPD. Moved interstate to be with him. The relationship became volatile and he physically assaulted me. This is when I became involved with this Forum. On one occasion, a neighbour called the police and he was arrested. They saw my injuries, he admitted guilt and he was imprisoned. I stood by him all during his incarceration, funding an appeal and he was released after eight months only to be deported as he wasn't an Australian citizen. I joined up with him overseas but the assaults continued. He got sporadic help for his MI but wasn't committed to getting better.

Eventually after yet another particularly bad assault and having the police involved, I returned to Australia and that was four and a half months ago. He appears to be serious about managing his condition now, taking medication, going to support and counselling sessions and hopes that I will return. However, all trust has been obliterated. We still have contact and that can get traumatic at times.

I started off on the Carers' side but find myself on the Lived Experience team as well. I have been having sessions with a psychologist.

Thrown into the mix is my own family. They don't know what I have been through. I used to care for my father and mother, used all my holiday and long service leave, taking time off work and eventually quitting so I could be there for them. Two of my siblings also live nearby but they were more concerned about building wealth than our parents' wellbeing so it was left to me. My father passed away and when I left to be with my partner, my mother's care was transferred to them. I feel they resented my decision but for the first time in my life I felt I was entitled to pursue happiness (not that it turned out that way) The sibs shut me out and when Mum passed away recently things went from bad to worse and as Executors of her will they scattered her ashes when and where they wanted without telling me and are responsible for distributing her estate however they see fit. There was no funeral or memorial service.

I live with my daughter and my son lives with his father. I love my kids with all my heart and live for them. I have a dog (actually my daughter's) who is my constant companion. I do a lot of walking and listening to music to escape the depressing thoughts I feel. I have no idea what to do with my life now and think it's all a cruel joke.

Look after yourself @Former-Member. You deserve better than that.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Got an email today - light and upbeat. Perfectly fine - it's just all the other stuff that drives me "crazy" for want of a better word. This unrealistic expectation that I will commit to resuming the relationship when he's better.

I haven't seen any tangible evidence that he can manage his behaviour and because trust has been obliterated, there's no basis to believe that there is a future together.

Haven't responded to any of these messages or emails because they make me weary and I really don't know if anything I say will be taken on board.

Thanks soul,I don't have any self worth,he knows it but I couldn't believe him today, due to no trust, can't take it on board because Im struggling. He was the bloke I couldn't say no to this morning said all the right things, but this morning I did because I knew better.Yes whatever I say to this bloke he didn't take on board or the other extreme, where whatever I said he'd get upset, or extremely sensitive.Living on a volcano with my depression and anxiety, don't want a timebomb to go with it.💞

@Justanotherday @Lexxy17 - I started this thread to tell my story. It can help to write it down. I feel that it allows me to clarify my thoughts and really analyse the situation at hand. There are some lovely people on the Forums that lend their ears and often take time to respond in useful ways.

Hi @Former-Member - thank you for your inspiring words. I'm sure I'll keep coming back to them during times when despair creeps in. I am learning to love myself again and find the person I once was. Not always easy.

Loneliness gets me down at times especially when I am out walking and see couples and friends together, laughing and sharing. I think about the good times but realise I miss them less than I don't want the bad times and unfortunately they were a package deal.

Survival - yeah, that's something I didn't think was possible on occasions and on others I just didn't want to. Fortunately those dark thoughts are diminishing. Soon, I hope to be able to really venture out and engage with the world. I'm looking at joining @CheerBear and @Phoenix_Rising in their yoga adventure.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Your post soul reminded me of when I'd be walking past neighbors houses, thinking how they all were so happy.Over the years, two domestic violence, SC in the garage, one died of cancer, etc.

Loneliness gets me down too,had 3 different doctors tell me the same 3 words my then mental health nurse wrote:"lack intimate relationships"-third time I heard it I realized what a Freudian w*** he was and humiliating me with the obvious was not help. There are somethings I appreciate on my own, shopping where I can do what I like, not looking for and waiting for,or pleasing someone else, movies, and walking which is my time, like my meditation.I hope with all the crap we go through,we learn to look after ourselves.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

My neighbours used to argue a lot - loudly and swearing. I used to listen out for any signs of distress and it made me very anxious @Former-Member. Fortunately they moved so the nights are a lot more peaceful. Walking is my thing too. Just today I threw out another pair of joggers as I could feel the dew wet my socks and in turn the soles of my feet.

Your welcome @soul, does me good too to help a little, and remind myself of what I've learned. Yoga sounds like a great start for you soul. One step at a time🌷💕

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

It's been about a week and a half since I broke off communication with my partner. He has sent numerous emails, sent messages and has rung my mobile. I haven't responded. It does feel less stressful but of course I can't help wondering how he is. It appears that he is less anxious in general but still holds out so much hope that we will reconcile. The trust has been broken and I can't see a future with him so what is there that would sustain a relationship? Love isn't enough.

In the meantime, a friend of mine contacted me wanting to know if I was interested in a position where she works - just part time. It's not in the field where I have any experience or qualifications but isn't too demanding. I submitted a resume and have an interview on Monday. I'm not sure whether I am ready for this challenge. There is a far bit of travelling time involved and at the moment I share a car with my daughter (it was mine before I went overseas and I handed it over as hers was written off in accident - not her fault) So this afternoon I am going car hunting. Oh joy - not! I have a couple to look at and may try to enlist a male friend to accompany me.

On one hand, I feel that I need more time to sort myself out and I was looking forward to spending a couple of weeks with my brother. I like the freedom to be able to travel again if I want to and a job like this won't allow for that. On the other hand, perhaps having outside employment will give me more confidence. I currently do some work from home that provides income and is very flexible. I feel a bit obligated to this friend for recommending me and if I should get the job, don't want to then pull out if I find I can't cope or it's not what I want.

Things with the siblings have settled down. Haven't had any contact from them at all. Suppose when there is some news about Mum's estate, my brother will email me. Not looking forward to the inevitable drama.

My best friend who is like the sister I wish I had, returned from her holiday and we had lunch together yesterday. It was so wonderful to see her. I had really missed her and it was good to talk to a real person (no offence @Former-Member@Former-Member@Determined@Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member@Former-Member @Shaz51@Phoenix_Rising@Former-Member @Zoe7@Lostatsea@utopiaand others who have been following my story)

I'll run this job situation by her too as I only found out about the interview late yesterday afternoon.

Overall, I feel as if I am getting some of myself back. I've looked at doing some yoga classes and hope to spread my wings again.
