Heart sinking

Heart sinking

My heart continues to sink as every minute goes past 💔

Today, I have reached out and contacted over email local psychologists in my area and my local headspace centre. I feel crashed and destroyed. It always comes back to - having to see my GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan for only 10 free appointments !?! Why isn't that enough 😔 I have no money, I have selective mutism (so can't even freaking approach a GP, can't talk) and I have been crying for the last couple of hours. I feel so hopeless.

Why does this have to be so hard? Why didn't I get the help I have required? Why didn't anyone stop to help me even after my release from the medical ward after a suicide attempt? (my second one only this year) Why has nothing changed or happened? Does nobody even care? Am I not enough to have support? Why won't my family help me? Why do they get mad? Why can't anyone understand? Why can't I understand? Why is nobody hearing my cry for help?

Why am I still here? ....

Constantly having bad experiences, constantly am being shoved under the carpet and ignored. I NEED HELP - please help me 😞

Why is this SO hard!?! I just don't want to be alive..

Re: Heart sinking

@Former-Member I am so sorry to hear of your struggle to try and find support. I can certainly relate to what you are saying. I spent a hellish year trying to find support after leaving my abusive psychologist of 16 years. Like you, I got SO SICK of calling services that were suggested to me, only to get the same story of only ten sessions.

I am now extremely blessed to be receiving funded therapy through the NSW victims of crime program. I learnt about this program when I had a session with the Royal Commission into institutional child sexual abuse. I don't know where you are or your situation, so I don't know if this information is of any use to you. In NSW, anyone who has been a victim of a crime is eligible for 22 funded sessions with an approved counsellor. There is also quite a lot of flexibility around getting additional sessions, depending on the situation.

It is so unfair that it is so very very difficult to find support. Ten sessions is hopelessly inadequate. I really hope you are able to find some support @Former-Member.

It's ok @Former-Member. I can hear how exhausted and distressed you are - even without you replying.

Re: Heart sinking

I am glad you found that help you needed @Phoenix_Rising 💛💜 I just wish I could be in the same position but it seems so out of reach 💔 I am in QLD, but glad NSW has that system for you.

It is tiring, it is sickening.. no wonder why so many people end up dying

Re: Heart sinking

@Former-Member I am not sure if Queensland has a similar system. I only learnt about it through the Royal Commission. I was a bit frustrated that no-one had told me about the program before then. I guess it goes to show that there MIGHT be something out there that you don't yet know about. However, I know how totally exhausting and horrible it is trying to keep on keeping on looking. During my horrible year of therapist shopping, I churned through nine awful therapists before I finally settled with my current one - and this is a less-than-ideal therapeutic relationship.

I really wish I had an answer for you @Former-Member. It is so unfair that the support just isn't there when we really really need it.

I'm going to head off for the night now. I don't know about you, but I find the forums an AMAZING resource. I feel super supported here - I hope you can also feel supported. Night @Former-Member
