My exercise thread - let's inspire one another!

My exercise thread - let's inspire one another!

Well today is the second day that I did 50 laps of various strokes of our local council pool. I still feel really unfit as I feel exhausted now, but at the same time amazing. It's like having a new lease on life! I am going again on Friday and have invested in a few things to get me going (training fins and new goggles). I really need a swimming cap too as my hair gets everywhere (it short hair with a long fringe). I am also eating healthier and have an appointment with the dietician coming up soon to fine tune my healthy eating plan (I know she is going to mention eating seafood but I am allergic to it so it's a no go). Looking forward to being a healthier Queen.

What exercise programs have others done/enjoyed/hated?

Hey!

Personally it took me a long while to find something that worked well for me. I was never great at sports growing up and it wasn't until I finally found kickboxing that I enjoyed it. Forming a regimented timetable of exercise was initially difficult to do but with persistance it gradually became second nature. Since giving up muay thai, I started powerlifting in 2014 and have come to love it. It's such a structured sport and you have to pay so much attention to addressing strengths and weaknesses systematically and I love it. Having that structure and dedication to go everyday combined with the need to have proper nutritional awareness distracts me from other invasive thoughts.

Hey @outlander! I'm up to 80 laps of combined strokes (with a 10 minute break halfway). I was weighed at the doctor today and I've lost another 2kg this week. Go me! With my medication and thyroid condition, I've been told it is really hard to shift weight, but here I am doing it. I'm thinking of joining the gym attached to the pool so that I can do some other cardio exercises like rowing and weight training to build muscle tone.

@patrickT it is interesting that you love powerlifting, I used to do that when I was younger myself through my old town's PCYC. It was a great sport and I had a fantastic coach (who sadly passed away a few years ago).

Hi @outlander@Queenie and all

What a wonderful inspiring thread. I always feel better when I exercise. Frustrating part for me lately is the restrictions from doing such that physical injuries have inflicted. Cardio exercise so worthwhile and takes that worry away. Keep up the good work!

I love to exercise but I have been struggling with motivation lately hopefully this thread will help. I love to mountain bike and surf. I hike with my wife and last year we did the overland track in Tasmania
