Re: I will...
Hi @Former-Member@Bubbles3@CheerBear@Zoe7@Vanessa5
I don't know if anyone can really "recover" from MI - just as one never "recovers" from chronic pain or being a bereaved mother
Hopefully these conditions can be managed - but it is a long-term works-in-progress etc and other people - those people who are narrow-minded and need a long lens to stay far away from those with "issues" because if they got up close enough to see with their own eyes - oh horrow - it all might jump off onto them
My days of MI are far in the past but I am still fragile and I have the edgies atm - and totally understand although I am not going through it all day by day - but I wonder
Is there anyone really who does not have some kind of condition - I call mine "Far in the Past Catching up with me Disorder - FPCD - and I am pretty sure that the people who are stigmatising people have SPD - Stigmatising People Disorder and I think that disorder is far worse because no condition can be managed unless the person who has it recognizes the disorder is present and acts upon it
I care about everyone here - battling away with depression at various levels
And Bubbles - I have read a bit of your life here but not all and I don't know if anyone can help but having one thing each morning to which we can say "I will........" is a start.
Here we can support each other - we can encourage each other - and each day has it's stuff and we can only do a bit here and a bit there and breathe some days
Today I will not think about my MRI - that is tomorrow's "I will..."
Hugs for now Bubbles

Re: I will...
Thanks @Bubbles3
I wish you the best with your kids also - it's a long time since I had small children - it might seem to last forever but no - very quickly the grow up and have children of their own - and then - those kids can have children as well
But I understand - there were dark days indeed when my ex-h took was not helpful and it can be really hard -
My MRI tomorrow - thanks for your best wishes - I am not that worried about the MRI itself - just that my GP thinks I have torn a cartiledge in my knee and the thought of having something needed to be done is not my favourite idea of passing the time
But my "I will,,,,,,,,,,," do that is in the future also - and in reality - I don't feel as edgy as I did yesterday but it took me ages to wake up in spite of getting a text to confirm my appointment and then a phone call -
So today "I did get up after a couple of unrequired interruptions" happened and today I will do a couple of loads of washing - it's a lovely day for doing the washing today
Now that is a long and complicated way of saying Thanks Bubbles -

Re: I will...
I don't only believe that recovery is possible, I really need to believe it is, and I imagine there would be many others here who may too. Recovery and hope go hand in hand for me, and questioning the possibility of recovery feels like questioning whether there is any hope (for me at least). I don't think that was your intention as I see you encouraging, supporting and caring for many here, but it is how I felt reading this message.
In saying that, I have questioned whether I will ever recover before (these feelings can still visit me in 'moments', though they are fleeting, decreasing in frequency and lacking the intensity they have had previously), so I can understand how and why people may question it. When I really found myself believing I could never recover, I started feeling more hopeless than I had ever felt before and these beliefs and feelings played a huge part in my want to end my life. Believing the opposite, has played a huge part in my fight to make my way through it now.
I wouldn't be able to keep going unless somewhere deep inside I trusted that one day I will move beyond managing my mental health issues, and I will create a stronger, more capable me because of what I have been through. I need to hold on to hope that one day I will lead a meaningful, fulfilling, rewarding life that aligns with my values and beliefs, where I am capable of making goals and the striving to reach them - that's recovery to me.
While I believe there are losses that I may never be able to 'recover', I really do believe I will recover from the effects of them, even if it takes me a long time to do so, and questioning or considering the possibility I may never recover is dangerous for me and I can't help but question whether it may be for others too.

Re: I will...
@Owlunar and @CheerBear - i think i can see and relate to both views. I tend to think about myself as more of a manage the mi/my self/life better than really ever thinking about there being a cure. but i do think recovery can be different for everyone and our end goals can be different and change over time. It's difficult. But im glad we are safe enough here to disagree with ideas about these types of things.
@Owlunar - i will be holding you in my thoughts tomorrow and hoping the MRI is ok and results are ok!
@CheerBear - i have been thinking of you today and hoping that your ... day has gone as ok as possible and that you are doing ok.
I will just keep putting one foot in front of the other at the moment in everything.

Re: I will...
One foot in front of the other sounds like a really good plan.
Thinking of you, understanding that things might be tough for you and that talking about it doesn't always necessarily help. "I will", therefore, hang about quietly hoping things shift somehow/someway for you.
