Struggling to Survive

Struggling to Survive

When life has no meaning, no purpose - it is a constant struggle to confront each new day and manage to ‘function’. Detachment from reality is my best defence. Without the emotional connections I am able to survive. The smallest of distractions can send me into a spiral that leads to unwanted and harmful thoughts. Feelings become amplified to the point of physical discomfort. The world closes in and seems to trap me in a never ending dark spiral. I can’t see the way out as I am tossed and turned, battered and bruised. The wounds are internalised and the struggle continues!

So I need to be alone as that is my only certainty for being safe – safe from disappointment, safe from conflict, safe from being let down, safe from violence, safe from further hurt. But when there are few distractions and your mind has time on its own to think, the freedom of space begins to close in. When you realise that the only people in the world that actually know you exist and care about you are the ones that you are isolating yourself from then the heartache and loneliness is magnified. If I was one cube of ice in an avalanche nobody would see me – it would make no difference if I were not there – the avalanche would continue regardless. I am one tiny, insignificant part of the universe that would soon be forgotten – in the wider scheme of life – I may as well not exist!

Re: Struggling to Survive

Where do you draw the line @Faith-and-Hope?

The first time I 'copped' it all over several days - didn't respond and even asked 'behind the scenes' for it to be 'let go'.

All my life I have 'put up with' abuse in one form or another - I don't expect it to happen in this environment and 'accepting' it and letting 'bygones be bygones' in this instance is not me wanting conflict but in-fact finally sticking up for myself and saying it is not okay!

Re: Struggling to Survive

Just like the last time I asked for help to 'sort out some stuff' that I couldn't (or wouldn't) talk about on here - and what happened then @Faith-and-Hope - nothing - no support forthcoming the following day or at all.... so I have absolutely no trust in that happening

Help!!!
I'm panicking. I'm house sitting for a friend and I'm worried the house may have been broken into.
I can't see that anything is missing, but all my medication has disappeared.
What possibly could have happened?

Re: Struggling to Survive

First @Former-Member - stop, breathe and try to remian as calm as you can. You will not be able to recognise if there has been a break-in if you are not calm. Then see if you may have left your medication somewhere else - then if you can't find it - look to see if anything else is out of place or seems to be missing

Re: Struggling to Survive

My empty pill bottles are there, but nothing in them.
The only thing I could find amiss was an empty jewelry case in a drawer in the kitchen. But maybe my friend took the jewelry with them????

Re: Struggling to Survive

Maybe there wasn't any jewellry in the case to begin with @Former-Member - and that is why it is in the drawer!

Could you have possibly finished your meds and not refilled - or placed them somewhere else?

Re: Struggling to Survive

Do you dissociate @Former-Member ?

Could you have removed them from their bottles without remembering ?

It seems strange that someone would take prescription pills but leave the bottles. They would be more likely to take the whole bottle ..... ?

Re: Struggling to Survive

@Former-Member I was thinking the same as @Faith-and-Hope - check where else the meds may be

Re: Struggling to Survive

No I definitely definitely had meds in there. I fill all my meds at once, once a month and I hadn't reached the end of the month yet.
No reason why I'd have 2 empty pill bottles in my bag and no other meds. (I take around 10 meds a day for various chronic conditions)
I think I might call the local cops and see what they say.
