Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

Had a famioy day at the zoo today, (was actually a birthday gift from grandparents back in May, this is the first chance we have had to use it). Feeling a little wasted toninight, we walked over 11km and it was a hot day.

Even though it was tireing it was lovely to be out as a family and have things go smoothly. Everyone had a nice day which was a relief as I am always a little anxious having big days away from home like today.

I have been thinking about starting this discussion fresh (as a new thread) to try leave all of the drama and trauma of last year behind me. I know I am far from alone in this regard but last year was a year I would really rather forget.

Does that sound silly?

I know it will still be there but I won't be in the same space where I have unloaded so much during such a difficult time. And a new title without reference to the hospital stay. (I almost was going to edit the title but that didn't seem right either).

I almost started a new thread at the start of the year, (just coincidence timing more than any sort of new year thing) but wondered about the value when the topic / purpose would be the same. Just this thread got off track to what I intended when things fell apart.

Also I am not feeling totally confident about how things will go when I am back at uni in a couple of weeks and hopefully some work. Making a break a bit of a mind game thing... 🤔

Any thoughts @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @Former-Member (I think I saw pebbles about earlier)

Hi @Determined ..... 👋

It’s taken me a little while to get back to this post ...... I was thinking over an answer.

I think the fact that you have even proposed it says that you would like to wrap up last year in its own bubble and “leave” it here ..... and if that is the way you are feeling, so think that is wise.

It will be here as a reference to revisit, but it’s healthy to consider the fact that each new year will be different and trying in its own way ..... so this is symbolically leavinf the baggage of last year behind.

Don’t forget to squirrel a few treasured moments into your packing for this year though. You have been good at seeking moments of truth, moments of joy, moments of reconciliation, and I think they are worth carrying forward as touchstones of faith and hope.

Huggggz Bro ...... ❣️

We finally got a letter from school this afternoon stating which teacher S2 will have this year. (It was going to be one of 2 teachers). Unfortunately he is not happy thinks she is mean and nasty 😓

Hope this is not a sign of things to come after last years efforts with a teacher who simply did not understand him or even try. Will have an opportunity to talk to her tomorrow so plan on requesting a meeting to discuss his needs. He is the most warm helpful and loving little boy a parent could possibly wish for, when he feels understood and loved, but turns into a monster if he feels musunderstood or hard done by. Communication is the key.

His main teacher got that last year and achieved amazing results wih him, the back up teacher (2 teachers with one big class) didnt even try resulting in chaos, had he got her again we would have moved schools, she is that stupid and he hates her that much. Hoping this years teacher can work with us.

The teacher we were hoping he would get got a hug from every student at last year's presentation night, the teacher he got got one or two. Hope that us not a sign.
