Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

Glad to hear that your appointment was useful and funny @Determined. What a bonus. More to come?

I had a trip to the gp this afternoon for a med review, turns out what I thought was a reaction to new med is shingles.

Glad it was caught early @Determined. I had that 18 months ago. Getting onto antiviral medication within the first 72 hours is apparently really important to reducing its impact and shortening the time span. The difference from my first spot to the ongoing rounds was dramatic under the effect of the meds.

Doc mentioned the 72 hours @Faith-and-Hope, I have had it for 10+ Days now so now just have to let it run its course. Quite uncomfortable.

Will teach me to see doc sooner in future, I didnt bother as I assumed it was med related and had an appointment coming up anyway.

Biggest problem is that I am run down and the source of stress is not going away any time soon, does not aid in recovery at all.

Reflux is in overdrive also at the moment, more meds for that.

All set for the move east @Faith-and-Hope, thinking of you and trust settling in goes as smoothly as it can. At least you have been able to have some short trips to ease the settling in.

How is the time with your brother going? Hope it gives you a chance to unwind a bit.
