Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

If so many of the students found the exam really difficult, it would be in the lecturer's best interest to go a bit easier on marking the group presentation and final report. Questions would be asked otherwise. Hope that's some consolation @Determined. I'm sure you probably did better than you expected.

As for the Special School placement, it might be prudent to ask them about post school options, TAFE courses and work experience that S1 may have access to.

If too many students get a crap mark @soul they just bump everyones marks up so it doesn't look so bad. Already aiming high for the group presentation and report.

Re the special school, this school particularly works very hard to get their students self sufficient, this includes transition into tafe and work experience. Even do excursions to the shops to buy groceries on a budget and cook a meal from what I have heard. Have requested a meeting to discuss all of this but looks like we will have to wait till after a decision is made now. I should have been more organised and done something sooner but have had my head in the sand.

Hope you have a good weekend @Determined. Got any plans? Or is it just survival?

Washing clothes this morning @soul

Hoping for a family drive this afternoon but will have to see how we go. Working on distraction methods that may be enjoyed by all. Darling trying hard but not coping at all at the moment. Have been grateful for the friend that sat with her for the last 3 days.

Well we managed a drive to the local park to feed the birds, I was hoping for the beach but darling was not up for it. Was a nice afternoon enjoyed by all.

Hi @Determined - still holding it together for the family? Hope today has been good for you all.

Practised any self care lately?

I got a singlet for you. Hope you don't have to wear it too often.
