Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

This discussion is a follow on from my previous thread Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family, a thread I started when my wife was admitted to hospital for the third time in 6 months and when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. It was a space where I could vent and express my emotions and helped me to process a particularly difficult time not only in my own life but for our family and helped me to hold myself together in order to support my family. For that I am most grateful.

Those of you who were following our journey will know that on my darlings return home I have been encouraged by my councillor to implement some loving boundaries, (lovingly implemented guidelines, not as rules to be enforced), and some self-care for myself.

Now that my darling is home the purpose of this new thread is to document our journey of healing and implementing new boundaries and commitment to self-care, not only so that I can have a visual plan for myself (a bit of self-accountability to follow through with plans in place) but in the hope that it may help others processing similar trials. It will also be an opportunity to track our progress over time.

@soul she is actually happy to talk to our pastor. I was supprised that she agreed when he told her to come see him even though she has stated to me she can't see how he can help. I think having someone notice and care has spoken volumes to her. As soon as he saw her on Saturday he told her she needed to come see him (in a caring respectful way). She certinally does respect him and I think will listen to him.

He is someone either of us can call at any time in a crisis. I would have caled on Friday but he had been away and I didnt realise he was back.

Thanks for the tag @Determined. Re: boundaries - yes as harsh as they may seem unfortunately it has to be said and done so she is aware. You are put in such a difficult situation and need make right call for you, her and your family. Am glad she has settled and is open to talk to the pastor.

Things are not good at the moment,
I am waiting for a call back from the pdoc for advice but not leaving my darling alone.
We had a big meltdown last night and it has been all down hill from there.

I thought the meeting with our pastor went well yesterday, not that it was going ot magically solve anything but it reinforced that there are people all around her who care.

Just spoke to pdoc and she is going back in to hospital.
Feeling so mean and nasty because she really does not want to go 😭
She has to be there as soon as possible this afternoon which means I will be skipping this afternoon's class. Great start to the semester. 😳

I guess it's for the best @Determined. Don't feel bad. That is why you had boundaries put in place. Just a bummer that they had to be enacted. I hope it goes well with explaining the situation to S2.

Thinking of you.

I am pretty close to snapping myself at the moment
It is impossible to do anything for myself. I was supposed to be working tomorrow but that is a bit hard when my darling can not be left alone. Mil can't come and stay as it is their shopping day and getting them to change their routine would be like reversing the rotation of the earth. I cant ask my mum because the sister would want to be involved and to say no would create a whole world of bother that I just don't need at the moment.

Still trying to get hold of MIL to see if she will come over this afternoon so I can go to uni.

Sorry for the rant,
I am just so angry with the situation (not my darling) at the moment. feeling so controlled and restricted.
Have already been stressed trying to work out when and how we can get S2 to see a councillor which is out of town with minimal disruption to his schooling.

A horrible situation @Determined. Reach out for help. If only we, your Forum friends, could assist. We would be there in a flash. You must be beside yourself with anxiety.

Breathe slowly, concentrate on calming your body. You will get through this. I really hope MiL can help out.

That last post was out of sync for some reason lol
Needed a laugh this afternoon.

Pdoc just came for a brief admission discussion and I was asked to leave?
Whatever is all I can say.

After he was finished pdoc assured me I have made the right decision though. Will be sitting with her now till later tonight.
Cant be too late. Need to get back for the children.
At the same time I dont want to leave my darlings side when she is so lonely 😞
