Over it

Over it

I have everything I have ever wanted in life and more.. An adoring fiance, amazing job, great family and friends and yet nothing is able to fill this gapping hole I have within.
Constant feelings of overwhelming sadness, anxiety, paranoia and complete nothingness. I constantly ask myself what is the point?
I have tried everything meds, psychologists, psychatrists and lifestyle changes with no avail.
I'm tired ive been fighting with myself for years!
Feels like no-one will ever get me. I'm so lost!!

Re: Over it

Thanks so much for your response.
Its nice to be able to talk and open up to people that can relate to how you are feeling and understand on another level.
Has anyone been involved in any BPD therapies or treatments programmes? Thinking it's my next move..

Also here to chat if anyone needs

Re: Over it

Yeah @Former-Member it is quite awful. CYMHS were actually my psychologist, psychiatrist and case manager all in one. To have them all desert me is quite confronting. Definitely after being discharhed from hospital as the plan included me to have constant contact with them. They were constantly nagged by helplines such as kidshelpline but I suppose they still chose to desert me in the end.

I can't financially support myself so I can't get support from anyone in my area except for CYMHS as they are the only service around me that is for free. My parents aren't supportive and don't believe in mental health. I also used to be on antidepressants but after a serious suicide attempt, they took me off of my medication cold turkey and that also messed me up quite a bit.

I am just stuck I suppose. I have nowhere else to turn. My GP every time I visited her, she would always automatically send me to the ER.. and I also communicated to her through writing as I cant talk which is SO frustrating. So i am unable to get support or help too in the verbal side of things.

I wish you didn't relate either. It is quite horrid. However, I hope you are doing well or better today. Even for just one day

Re: Over it

@Hayley1 Not a problem. We are all in this together.

Behavioural therapy? I have gone through this and also CBT. It really depends on the person, but it can definitely help and does help people. It worth a real shot. Hopefully in the end it will be of help to you. That is an awesome step to take.

Re: Over it

@dazeddanais - im so sorry that your mental health team have not really been 'your' team, at least not at the moment. I wonder if it might be possible for you to use the beyondblue or Sane chat tomorrow to brainstorm with them other options for getting support within your specific circumstances. Though I also hope that you find the forums here helpful 🙂 What else is happening in life? Do you have work/study/hobbies that help keep you going?

@Hayley1 - It is nice to be 'understood' here! There are people here who have done some BPD therapites - DBT springs to mind but im not sure off the top of my head who has done it! I know @BlueBay has (but @BlueBay is going through a particularly tough time so no pressure to reply here!) and a few others, maybe @Faith-and-Hope who has a much better memory than me or @Former-Member ? I've never dont DBT though i've wondered if it could help me. Its not offered where i am though in the country and im also not sure if i could handle a group environment.

Re: Over it

@Former-Member I'm not exactly sure it's for Borderline Personality disorder.
Did you find the behavioural therapy helpful?
Sorry to hear that you are going through such a rough time yourself! 😞

Re: Over it

@Former-Member it is quite traumatic. I actually have nothing to wake up for. I don't go to school, I dont have work and just never seem to enjoy anything or want to wake up really nowadays. So.. really.. every day I am in bed and never leave really. Really depressing.. I have talked to people on the chat here and beyondblue but nothing really happens 😞 and there aren't really any suggestions that can actually be put into use that would possibly help so it is just a very difficult situation.

Re: Over it

@Hayley1 I havent done anything with BPD as I do not have that diagnosis 😞 However personally, I haven't really found therapies helpful but that is mainly due to the reason that I am mute (unable to talk) and that is such a huge part. I have selective mutism. However, I really suggest you still give it a shot even despite other peoples experience because everyone responds differently. It also is more useful to people who can talk, and I am not meaning opening up straight away as that takes time. It is hard work but will ultimately be worth it

Re: Over it

@Former-Member Thanks Lisa really appreciate your help.
I will look into DBT..I received my diagnosis quite some time ago and haven't really wanted to believe it and didn't know if anything else would work as I have tried so many things that haven't seemed to make a difference in the past.

Re: Over it

@Former-Member

that does sound really depressing and difficult 😞 sometimes having some sort of a goal or something to 'do' does help... although in saying that sometimes its completely ovewhelming as well. I took a year off of work to try and get better, i did in lots of ways and i was so determined to get back to work (for a variety of reasons, things are so complicated in my life) and it did help to have that goal to work towards, and now that i am back at work there is a lot of responsibility and pressure that does act as a kind of motivator that makes me keep going..

maybe its worth exploring some options for how to start something that might help you have something to look forward to or do that gives you something to get up for... though i really do get how hard that can be in the middle of deep depression!

Re: Over it

@Hayley1 if you type DBT into the search bar at the top of the forums page there will be a few discussions (newish and oldish) that will come up on it if you're interested too 🙂 Also there have been quite a few on BPD.
