Re: when is it time for hospital

Good morning @outlander - I went to bed last night thinking about those really cool secret hiding hole books. The ones that look like books from all angles until you open them and there's a cut out hole in the middle of the pages. I think I was thinking about them because I've been reading about how you can't hide your meds anywhere. I am so angry for you that you have had them taken, and that you have such little privacy that you feel there's nowhere to keep them.

You shouldn't have to hide them and you should be able to take them as you want. Because you can't though, I had a quick google ("secret book craft") and found that making those books is not anywhere near as hard as it might seem. An old thick hard cover book (opp shop maybe), some watered down pva glue, a paint brush and a cutting tool should do it. It doesn't take away the fact that it's absurd to even think about needing to do it, but something like that may work. (As may something way more simple and practical like a couple of empty tampon boxes in your bag - but I'm CB and don't do 'simple' and 'practical' often 😛 )

Yesterday sounds big but there seems to be some good in it. Hopefully you can start feeling like you can trust you GP as a safe support, and the psych appointment sounded like a brave big step. Huge congratulations to you taking those steps forward, especially when things are as hard as they are. I've attempted SA counselling twice (once recently and once a long time ago), and both times I went only to intake and never planned to return after. That you're planning to continue going after your first appointment, seems really positive and hopeful.

Well done at keeping on keeping on Outlander. I hope one day you'll be able to look back with pride at all the times you've said "I can't do this", and then done it.

Haha yes thats very true you are very much CB buy j wouldn't change you. I love seejng whatever you do/make

Yes yesterday was pretty hard! Its making it worse now since the psychiatrist rang my mother. Its made my life alot harder and even to the point i have yo hide my meds 😞
I dont know if ill continue sa therapy but i thought if i made the appointments ahead then id be more inclined to go sorta thing. But i can always cancel but im trying not to do that. Im trying to think if i can get help it might just make life judt sbit easier well not easier but abit more manageable with coping strategies that will work for me

Re: when is it time for hospital

That's right @outlander - if you think learning coping skills and strategies will be helpful for you then a supportive SA therapist should hopefully be able to provide you with that. And having the appointment there and open for you means it is an option, which for me having options is often better than not having them. Because things like SA, trauma, the abuse you're experiencing at home etc. involve such a lack of control for you, it's important that you are able to control this counselling process, and a great start to that is knowing you can attend or cancel and it's your choice.

Off to plan some pretties now then meet with my mh worker. Take care today 😊

You're doing a great job outlander

Re: when is it time for hospital

Good Morning @outlander

I hope you did get some sleep last night, it is so very important to me, without it I can spiral very badly. I think the feeling of helplessness is one of the worst, having no option but to accept the unacceptable. Of course you never really accept that which you don't - if that makes sense. You can change it, you are changing it - it's taking time, but your doing it 🙂 I let my Father continue controlling me even after I left home, but it was from a distance and I gained my own control in the forground of my life. I was allowed to leave home at 14 for work and boy did I act up (if that's the right way to put it) Sex, drugs and rock n roll; for the next few decades! It was almost as if I simply replaced my Father with other men, like I had learnt abuse and sort it out. I think that's what I believed I had to offer men, my ability to be abused and not complain about it. Didn't attract very nice men. But I saw no Doctors and I blurred through my life just trying to figure out what I could as I went along. Your doing so much better, not only are you seeking help, but your standing up for the 'right' kind of help. I'm sorry you have already experienced 'unhelpful' assistance - but there is good help out there and I believe you are strong and will choose the right Doctors. Maybe you can use the thought of the new horse as a lollipop light, a sweet and bright reward for getting though everything else 🙂

Love you Outlander

Niqua

Re: when is it time for hospital

Good Morning @Former-Member 🙂

On my virtual kitchen table I've got 2 hot pots, one's strong coffee, one's green tea. I've got 2 types of milk, one's creamy and the other is skim. I've got white sugar cubes, coffe suger, raw sugar and honey. I must have been doing some serious virtual cooking, because I've got peanut drop chocolate cookies (my favourite one's that my Nanna used to make), carrot cake and cheese balls; all neatly arranged on a beautiful china plate. I've also got a genuine wish for you to join me and be able to sit down and relax, chatting about the weather and maybe the price of eggs in China 🙂

Wishing you one of those A HA moments that lifts the fog and makes you smile

Re: when is it time for hospital

I understand that the sa counselling is hard @outlander 😮😩💜
It does get easier and it's a good step forward.
Eventually you will feel better for it.
From experience, I can honestly say that it's worth it.

Are you comfortable with the therapist? It's important to have someone you're comfortable with.
