Re: when is it time for hospital

Im about to start trauma work. My psychologist went on holiday and i didnt want to start when i was only going to get one sessiom then she was gone for 2 weeks. I see her next week so thatll be when i start the trauma work.
I told her as in my gp a few times that i would rather speak to my psychologist about the trauma etc. I keep my gp updated on how im feeling medications etc but i dont want to talk about the trauma.

And if it was only once ot twice i wouldnt be too bothered but iys every time i go. I book in for a double appointment so for 20 minutes and im always there for over 40 minutes when i was only there to get a few things sorted that really couldve only taken the one session time.

I had a gp before this one who went on holidays and refferred me to the one im.seeing now onr because she didnt know how else to help me and becasue she wouldnt be here for thoae few weeks.
I can always change back to her...

Re: when is it time for hospital

So you're going down an appropriate path to deal with the trauma stuff and you have communicated this repeatedly and clearly to this GP.
She also spends a lot of time with you, that I think you would rather not spend with her.
You could also go back to a GP that you did find helpful(?)

Re: when is it time for hospital

So in summary what do you envisage that will happen if you stay and if you get a new gp - one that you don't like and ideally one that you do like.
What do the three situations look like?

Re: when is it time for hospital

yes im trying to take the right path but shes not making it easy for me.

i would rather not spend so much time there at all, i havent been in a few becasue of all this but im due to go back very soon before they decide to ring someone to check in on me.

i can see about going back to the other one but if she refferred me becasue she didnt know what else to do, would that be a good idea to go back to her.

Re: when is it time for hospital

if i was to stay with this current gp, im not sure i would be very open becasue shes already made me shut down becasue shes made me uncomfortable on many occassions and im not sure if i would be brave enough to say it again.

if i went back to the other gp she didnt make me feel uncomfortable and didnt pressure me into talking and really did jsut do what had to be done unless i thought otherwise or she seen otherwise but she wasnt that great with mh

Re: when is it time for hospital

So:
Staying with this gp isn't great.
Going back to old gp hard as she referred you on
What about a new gp. What would that look like? What would you do if you didn't like them? What would you do if they were wonderful? Where would you find them, could you get your psychiatrist to refer you to a new gp?

Re: when is it time for hospital

I wouldnt know where else to go. Ive been swapping gps and this is the 3rd one.
I think id have to look in a totally different practice
I think though it might be worth going back to.my old gp

And thats another situation im thinking about changing psychiatrists too

Re: when is it time for hospital

One thing at a time.
I'm not trying to distress you I'm trying to make you realize you can make this decision yourself. I think we can say that staying isn't working. I'm not sure about going back to old gp.
What about looking around for a new one- interviewing them? Trying a few different ones till you find one you like?

Re: when is it time for hospital

Ok one step at a time...
There isnt many easy access gps around my area.
Theres only around 4 female gps in my area. Ive been to 2 of them and ive been to the other and she was so arrogant. I dont really want to go to a male.
And the other gp is in the same practice as my other 2 and mum went to her ans she said 'how did she get her qualifications from a cornflakes box' so im running out of options already

Re: when is it time for hospital

Discount what your mum said. Our doctors are some of the best in the world.
Why does it have to be easy access? (What is easy access?)
What's wrong with a male?
I do this thing where I see my male gp for most things, but anything 'womanly' I go to his female colleague. It works really well.
