Re: when is it time for hospital

Does running away and sleeping in my car count as a refuge cause im ready to do that. I cant be here. I cant be anywhere. Its not safe on the streets but its not safe in my headspace and where i am now. The tensions here are sky high and my mothers not even here atm. I cant help it. I dont even knoe how to feel. Im too scared to do anything.

Some craft is a great idea @outlander. Anything to keep them busy and out of your headspace. I keep thinking what an amazing carer you are.

No sorry running away and sleeping in your car is not ok. I've done it a lot and had many many unsafe times because of it. But, I hope it's ok to suggest this, there are women's shelters in most towns. There should be a telephone number for them or for a directory service in the front pages of the phone book - or white pages online. Or ring your local police, they have the information. I believe your situation warrants this sort of resource. And a shelter will be able to help you find suitable accommodation for the time being. It's time to weigh up the pros and cons of staying at home and put you mental health first. If you do, you will be better able to make decisions and be a carer in the future. Your Pop and you should be eligible for a public housing place away from the others. Or there may be other solutions I'm not thinking of right now, but something's got to give and at the moment you are doing all the giving for 5 other people. That is not sustainable and it's taking it's toll on you. Hoping I am doing the right thing saying all of this but I've given you some considerable thought. If I was there I'd be getting proactive on your behalf, you can bet on that. With public housing you can get priority placement if you are at risk of homelessness, which what you say tells me you are.

They are waiting on public housing too :(<br>They wont say im at risk of homelessness because they arent kicking me out of home its me who wants to leave. Ill look into it more when im home again though. And because techniqucally i can go to mums bf mums house as a refuge. <br>

Re: when is it time for hospital

Morning @outlander and @eth. I've been reading along following your hard week Outlander, and feeling sad and angry that you feel so unsafe and not ok in your home.

Re somewhere to stay - I know here where I am, the numbers of refuges are not listed as their locations and details are kept well away from public knowledge for safety reasons. They're accessible via a lead organisation which places people in them depending on their needs. I'm wondering whether you've called 1800respect before - they are a service that provide brief counselling, information and referrals to people experiencing family violence. They also have a team of counsellors who specialise in trauma who work with people who often have experienced SA and they're available 24/7. They might be a useful resource for you Outlander, in a few ways.

I am not sure about whether there are similar programs where you are, but here there are youth residential services which have a mental health focus but will support you to gain skills and resources to support you to live independently. They'd work with you to look at housing, finanacial, health, lifestyle, social etc factors that may assist you to live in a more ideal for you way. Headspace, your GP or Psych may have the details of something similar in your area if it exists.

Just some more ideas. Hope you find something that can ease the stress of your situation soon. It seems like it is taking a serious toll on your wellbeing.

In that case @outlander it's time for you to have 'respite' and the carers organization in your state can make that happen. It would be called 'Carers NSW' or 'Carers NT' for example. I don't know which state you are in or I could find a phone number for you. @KobeCat @Former-Member maybe you can help with this information. They would arrange something short term for you and pay for it to give you a break and help break the cycle. They would also make sure your Pop's care was taken care of during that time or you could visit him to make that happen.

I'm trying to give you every bit of information at my fingertips and from my own past experience. I was a disbility carer for 18 years and used them myself on a few occasions.

Outlander

I've been reading your threads during the night and like many can unfortunately relate to the situation and know the distress you would be feeling.I question the role of your mother's bf.To me he has no right to be one you have to seek approval of and the fact your mother allows him sounds like a scenario for domestic violence. If you were doing illegal drugs he could justify his role.If you are the main carer for your Pop I suggest you seek information on being made Legal Guardian I advise you not to tell anyone but your Pop if he is still in a good state of mind.Cant be a healthy environment for him. That means if there is a disturbance ,and the Police came, you have your rights. It's a situation that obviously can't continue outlander.

Re: when is it time for hospital

Its not a domestic case. She told him to 'deal'with her was her words the other day. My mother wont speak or look at me anymore
Ive destroyed everyone and it is my fault. Im messing up everything in their lives.
Im making my life harder then what it is and ive got it easy-these are the words that keep swirling around.
Im a nothing.
A useless unworthy nothing. I dont even know why i bother anymore
I dont deserve you guys on here either. Your all too nice and caring.
