14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hi Karen, my angel,

Oh it is good to hear the birds are singing, their is no sound like it, I have so many birds in my yard lately, i think it is the spring births, my little shrubs have survived the aphid outbreak, they are all gone, and my new little portilacas are finally all comming through.

I planted some marrigolds yesterday, i am so looking forward to the big pom-pom style yellow flowers, and i am going to put in some tiny pebbles to finish the fron of the house off.

Karen i don't know if i could face the doctor, i have been lying to them about how bad things are and the side effects, i just am too frightened of them calling in a CATT team, or making me see them on a weekly basis, you are so strong Karen, i wish i had your strength, i just can't do it.

Karen, i hope your little girls manage to find something to do today, at least 1 day is down and the second will go fast.

How are you today Karen? are you still really struggling? please feel free to speak to me, i will try not to make things worse for you, i hope today is a nice sunny day for you, please go out and get some fresh air. take a deep breath and be so thankful for all the trees, flowers and wildlife.

Take care my angel, please be safe.

Jacques

Hi Jacques

They would only call the CATT team if you couldn't reassure that you will stay safe.

You could still see the Dr and not talk about the safety issues, just the other symptoms. They also know that your mum looks after you so that is another reason why they wouldn't bring in the CATT team.

You never know there are at her medications that can help you Jacques, what have you got to loose.

I'm so glad your garden survived the aphids, it will be beautiful once it's established.

Ive got myself into a bit of a mess, I forgot to get scripts written up by my psychiatrist the other day I was so overwhelmed when I was there I forgot to get them. Now I'm out of meds and don't know how I will get more. I'm so sick and tired of making a mess of everything. So on top of everything I don't have any meds which means withdrawal systems.

I'm just all over the place, pathetic.

Sorry j about winging, nothing seems to be going ok, so overwhelmed

Hi my angel,

I know you are right, I have nothing to lose, I am so frightened of change, and so frightened of being without the anxiety and depression, I know it sounds weird but I have had it for so long I find it hard to let go.

Karen, please don't feel pathetic, I have the same problem when I get overwhelmed, I forget everything, once I was in the RTA to renew my license, I forgot all my details, then I forgot my pin number. Mum has to write down all the questions now when I go to the doctors because I become so frantic I forget everything. Karen it is part of our illness, it is the brain protecting it's self.

I know how it is things seem to snowball, when I get overwhelmed I have learned to stop everything and take some time out. Have a cup of tea/coffee or just go for a 30min walk. Listen to some music or something good to take your mind off your worries. Then come back to it.

Karen I am so glad you can talk to me about this, I often feel like I am the only one else going through these things.

Take care

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Hey J

I did have it written down but when I got to the appointment I forgot.

J please see your Dr, you've got your mum for support, so there would be no reason for them to bring in any other services. They only do that if you can't guarantee your safety, or have support.

You can even reassure them that your mum will look after your medication so there is no temptation.

Give it a go j you've got nothing to loose and everything to gain. Even if it makes your life a tiny bit easier that is good. As you know there is no magic pill to fix everything. But even a bit of help would be a bonus for you.

Take care j

Re: 14th year house bound

I was sad that you felt yourself sliding @Jacques. You have been putting out a lot of positive energy and we do need time to recharge.

Have you ever had an attempt at psychotherapy? Could your mum drive you to the next town once per month if you found someone who you felt alright about? Its good doing things online ... but with so much isolation it is good to just be in a room with another person ... talking about things. I know you dont have anyone in your town but wouldnt you try looking again? Sorry if I am pushing a rejected idea ...

Re: 14th year house bound

It's ok @Appleblossom,

Thank you for the suggestion, the problem i can't talk about some aspects of what has given me anxiety, not to anyone, psycologist/psyciatrist included, so by not being able to be truthful i would be wasting their time and mine. i am tired of talking, tired of thinking, that is all i do all day every day, just keep going over and over how i have wasted my life, what could have been, what alternative life i could have had if i was normal.

my being is all about anger and regrets now, nothing else seems to matter to me. going out and seeing people be happy, couples having fun, it all just makes me angry/sad that i will never have what they have got.

i do not belong on earth, i am a ghost, an enigma, i don't really exist..................................
