14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Hi Jacques

In sorry your feeling so low.

I had awful night terrors last night still feel like he is alive and that scares me so much.

I have nearly finished ripping up all the carpet and underlying in the house. Rolled it up tied string around it and carried it all outside.

Everything is aching.

Tomorrow I will have to get the pieces of timber up which held the carpet down. Fiddly job.

I know how you feel about your weight j, I've put on 20kg since I started the new medication in May.

Everyday I struggle wanting to go off the meds.

I had lost 30kg now I've nearly put it all back on. So depressing. I'm under 5 ft tall so extra weight really shows. It's also a bad influence on the girls. And having a injury to my knee doesn't help with the extra kg.

I have only had on v today and no coke, but I'm exhausted.

J I'm here if you need to talk or vent.

Take care my friend and stay safe

Karen

Hi MY angel, i am not feeling low anymore, wow what an achievement, you mean all the carpet? the whole house? far out, you are my hero, what a big job, my gosh, that is really hard work, i know i did one room a little while ago, it knocked the stuffing out of me.

Oh you poor thing, it must be terrifying waking up thinking he is still alive, how do you manage to calm yourself down? i really struggle to calm down after waking in a panic.

Of course everything is aching, you just ripped up all the carpet, you have gone from sitting in your 4X4 to fixing a whole house, believe me when i say I DO UNDERSTAND, i have done the same. I don't know how our bodies do it, but they seem to bounce back.

Oh yes the little strips with the nails in them, make sure you wear gloves, i damaged my hands so bad on them at my place.

Yes it is so demoralising with the weight, i just have to keep trying to loose it.

Karen i am so proud of you trying ot change your dietry habbits for the girls, to be a better roll model, but you also need to do it for yourself too, to make yourself feel better, give you more self worth.

Good Girl, be careful going off al sugarie drinks at once, you have been on them a long time, just cut back half for a couple of weeks then the rest.

Karen i am so impressed by your determination with the house, i know how much of a struggle it must have been to go their this morning, keep up the fantstic work.

Takce care, treat yourself, you so deserve it.

HI Jacques

I'm so glad that you are feeling ok, I have been worried about you.

Yes I do mean the WHOLE house and underlay. I'm exhausted and everything is hurting.

One Small problem with gloves I can't find any they are all too large:-)

I am yet to find a way to bring myself back to the present and calm down after night terrors.

So frightening.

Oh those strips with the nails sure do make a mess of your hands ouch.

It was a struggle just to get out of bed today, let alone motivate myself. I don't know how you do it j.

I got a few unpleasant surprises parts of the floor is wet under the carpet and I have no idea where the water has come from. I'm really worried about it because it's in both girls bedrooms.

Take care j

Re: 14th year house bound

I've been drinking coke for so many years now. It was easier to give up smoking than coke.

The v I started drinking in 2013 when my eldest daughter spent 14 days in hospital, acute anxiety, they put her in a ward with teenagers she was only 7. Too young to be in a psych ward. I was with her day and night. I never left her. Anyway that when I started drinking v.

I am really going to try to give it up.

Have you done anymore mandalas j.

Do you still make model ships, or is the shaking still too bad?

I think I need a shower I can smell myself, yuk.

Hi Karen,

Oh no, yes i bet it it is hard to find gloves, try small gardening gloves, Oh yes i bet everything is hurting!!!!!!! I had the same thing after the wiring.

Oh no that is terrible Karen, PTSD is horrible isn't it, you know i can still vividly remember stuff from over 25 years ago, in crystal clear detail.

Karen, i don't know how i motivate myself, i really have to push, but once i am into it, i find it gets easier.

Karen check the ceiling over where the wet patch is, it may be a drip from the roof, other than that it must be a leaking pipe, you may need to call a plumber, how wet is it?, just damp or saturated? maybe the previous owners spilled something when they left?

Yes the joys of an old house, you never know what you will find, it cost me $500 extra because the stove was such a pain to install, an extra 5 hours labour!!!!!!

Oh well, all done now.

Rest up my angel, have a radox bath, or rub in some dencorub or something like that to help your aching muscles, you have done well, a big virtual hug comming your way

Re: 14th year house bound

Karen, i used to drink 2 liters of coke a day!!!! i was so addicted to it, but i decided i had to get healthy no matter what, so i stopped, it was hard, but after a week or two you will not be able to stand the tast.

It must be so hard seeing your daughter go through that at such a young age, you are such a good mum, i wish my parents had of helped me at that age.

I am proud of you Karen, your body will thank you, try not to do it like i did, the whole cold turkey thing, say go from 2 V's and 2 Cokes, to 2 v's and 1 coke, for about 2 weeks, then 1 v and 1 coke, so on and so forth, if you reduce it slowely you should have less withdrawles.

Yes Karen i have been doing 1 a night, they are very relaxing, and take my mind off of all the negative stuff.

No unfortuatly i have not made a ship in over a year, my hands shake so bad, and my concentration is non-existant. such a shame, i really enjoyed making them.

Oh my Karen, the hard work does show, doesn't it, my shower for the past 2 weeks look's like i have been rolling in mud the whole day!!!!!!!

Enjoy your shower, and make sure you put some muscle relaxing cream on yourself.

Re: 14th year house bound

Hey Jacques

I was wondering if I could borrow a hot water bottle:-)

That's the thing I can't work out there are no water stains on the roof the carpet wasn't wet, but the underlay was and fresh water stains on the timber floor. It's really weird. It's more than just a spillage as it's in 2 bedrooms.

I had a building inspection done before I bought and they said there was no problems. The gutters and fascia need replacing though.

I will have to if everything dries up now the carpet is up.

I'm sorry you can't make the model ships you are so talented, they look awesome.

Hope you are ok

Re: 14th year house bound

Her you go Karen, nice hot, hot water bottle.

Yes you are right, it is strange, uuummmm, is it floor boards or concrete floor? is the house raised or on the ground?

Karen i a mfine, i am so excited you managed to do some work on the house, and you seem to be going so well, that has made my day.

Yes i am so disappointed i can't make boats any more, i so miss it, maybe that is why i have no motivation now, nothing to do.

What are you and the girls up to tonight? how are you feeling? remember sore muscles are a sign of a successful day!!!!!!

Re: 14th year house bound

Muscles are really stiff but I'm so happy to get the carpet out. Thanks for the hot water bottle I sure do need one.

The house is ranch style with full length verandas front and back. The front of the house is raised as there is a slope on the block. I can stand up under that part of the house. The back there is not much clearance. The floor is like chipboard, yellow tongue. No floorboards unfortunately.

The girls are in bed after doing all their homework, and reading. I might do a mandalas to relax.

Re: 14th year house bound

Oh ok, would it be possible to unscrew a section of the floor and have a look underneath? maybe call a plumber, they have special cameras that can go under houses or in pipes to find leaks?

Karen turn off all the taps in the house, have no running water at all, then go out to the water meter, if the little dials are moving you have a leak under the house, the dial may move slowly so you might have to listen to it to hear the clicking noise. hope it helps.

Enjoy your Mandalay my angel, try to get some rest, try to dream of me and others on the forum, much nicer dreams
